In commemoration of World Su***de Prevention Day yesterday, our Coffs Harbour team took part in the Out of the Shadows Walk, to remember those lost to su***de, and show support for their family, friends and loved ones.

The walk saw over 16,000 participate, with The Buttery raising over $1,800 to answer 46 calls to support people when they need it most.

We believe hope, connection and timely support can change lives. Together, we can help reduce stigma, encourage help-seeking, and remind people that they do not have to face difficult times alone.
If you or someone you know needs support, help is available. Reaching out is a sign of strength.

💛 A conversation can make a difference.

Today, on R U OK? Day, we’re reminded that meaningful connections start with a simple question: Are you OK?

At The Buttery, we know that recovery, wellbeing and resilience are strengthened when people feel seen, heard and supported. Taking the time to check in with a colleague, friend, family member or neighbour can open the door to an important conversation and remind someone they don’t have to face challenges alone.

Our leadership is proud to stand alongside communities across Australia in encouraging genuine connection, compassion and care.

Ask. Listen. Encourage action. Check in.

Because sometimes the smallest conversation can have the biggest impact.

R U OK?

Today is R U OK? Day, a time to check in with friends, family, and workmates and ask one very simple, but very important question. It marks a chance to strike up a meaningful conversation and normalise talking about mental health. It's something that can be done not just today, but every day. 💛 🌞

If you'd like to get involved in R U OK? Day, or find an event being hosted near you, head to www.ruok.org.au.

Last week, The Buttery brought together representatives from 10 Community Drug Action Teams (CDATs) across Northern NSW for the CDAT Northern Regional Forum 2026 in Coffs Harbour. Representatives from Richmond Valley, Kyogle, Byron Bay, Tenterfield, Clarence Valley, Hastings, Tweed Shire, Coffs Harbour, Lismore and Tamworth came together to share ideas, learn from one another and plan for the year ahead.

Facilitated by Annie Bleeker and organised by The Buttery's Community Development Officers, the forum provided an opportunity to explore current alcohol and other drug trends, share successful community initiatives, and identify key regional priorities for the future. Participants agreed on three areas of focus across the region: social connection, local partnerships and preventing uptake.

A highlight of the day was hearing the passion, commitment and creativity of CDAT members who continue to make a difference in their local communities. Together, we're building stronger connections, sharing knowledge and creating safer, healthier futures for people across Northern NSW. 💚

The Buttery would be nothing without the support of our community. Including Northern NSW community centres, like the Nimbin Neighbhourhood & Information Centre, from which we operate one of our programs.

The Nimbin Alcohol and Other Drugs Hub is a FREE outreach service available to those locally based who are struggling with substance misuse, or seeking support as a family, carer, or friend.

This Women’s Health Week, we’re taking a moment to recognise the importance of women’s health, in all its forms.

Women’s health is more than physical wellbeing. It’s mental health, connection, relationships, safety, self-worth and having the support to make positive changes when life gets difficult.

For many women experiencing challenges with alcohol and other drugs, reaching out for support can be one of the most important steps towards a healthier future.

At The Buttery, we believe every woman deserves to feel heard, supported and empowered to take charge of her wellbeing - without judgement and with compassion.

💜 Your health matters. Your story matters. And asking for help is a sign of strength.

This Women’s Health Week, let’s encourage the women in our lives to prioritise themselves, check in with their wellbeing, and know that support is available when they need it.
