The most impactful effect of untreated hearing loss is the slow withdrawal from the world, and from our loved ones.

On average, it takes 5 years of ‘my spouse mumbling’ before adults with hearing loss consider hearing aids.

Severe hearing loss is reliably related to dementia - so if your spouse mumbles, time to get a hearing test.

Adults with untreated hearing loss tend to withdraw from engaging with family and friends. I mean, it makes sense if you think about it, right?

Why go out to eat if you can’t participate in the conversation?

Why make a phone call if you can’t understand the person on the other end?

Why go to a community event if you can’t understand the entertainment?

Dr Kristy Fraser-Kirk, supported by Attune Audiology and Cochlear, implanted the region’s first Cochlear OSIA system today.

The OSIA is a powerful implantable bone conduction solution for patients with mixed and middle ear hearing loss, and for those with problematic ear canals.

It takes a certain sort of person to work in a surgical clinic.

Every day, these women find a way to smile and be kind to humans who are stressed, tired, unable to find a carpark, unable to hear, unable to read. To people who are doing their best, but are angry, and short-tempered and worried.

Somehow, they do all that, every day.

And they still always have enough to give to the ‘special one’. That human who just received the worst news of their life.

Thank you to the loyal, intelligent and dedicated women who keep Evolve ENT afloat, and look after our patients on the best days, the worst days, and all the days in between.

COVID-19 UPDATE

In line with Queensland Government regulations, all patients entering the practice must wear a mask, exemption is given for patients less than 12 or medically exempt by their doctor.

Parents/carers/support people are limited to one person per patient and we would ask if able for those to wait outside during the appointment.

If a patient, career or close contact has been to one of the locations on the Queensland Government website (link below), please delay your appointment and follow the advice on the website.
