I’m back in Melbourne from the Sunshine Coast where it was warm. I was there for the Australian Deaf Games, where I taught yoga classes, played table tennis and pickleball, and presented on Sports and Mental Health. It was a busy, social time, and I felt exhausted by the end. Pickleball is an interesting new sport—is it a fad? Table tennis had a smaller team, which made me sad. Will table tennis disappear while pickleball expands? The next Australian Deaf Games will be in four years—will you go? I’m thinking about how I might be involved next time. Goodbye.

Hello from KHC, I provide supervision groups for hearing professionals who don't know much about how to work with Deaf people and their deaf mental health issues in depth. There are some hearing professionals out there, nationwide, who have very little experience working with deaf people but it is not enough due to limited study on deaf mental health, especially childhood development. So to meet those needs, I can provide online supervision sessions to discuss/educate. I have received two requests, I welcome more interest to build up to 6 professionals. The cost will be reduced if there is more interest. I look forward to hearing from you, bye.

Thank you so much to you all for your congratulations about our business “well done” certificate, really you have made my heart bigger and bigger. Thank you!

Yoga class teaching at Australia Deaf Games details are now finalised. It will be held at Dance Energy Studio in Caloundra. We will design a flyer with more details and distribute it.
Why do we learn yoga? Really it helps us to clear up our minds and our emotions so we can understand ourselves better. That's about all, see you there. Oh, the website will be updated with all the details for you to book. I also would like to let you know if you book five classes you pay cheaper fees. Do go there and have a look, to book your sessions. https://karlihealthcentre.com.au/events/ You will need to ask your plan manager if you can use your NDIS plan to fund those sessions. OK, see you later.

On 25 May 2026, Karli, Director of Karli Health Centre, attended the Victorian Small Business Awards 2026 at the National Art Gallery in Melbourne by invitation. Two Auslan interpreters were provided. During the event, Karli was very pleased when Karli Health Centre received a Commendation for Excellence in Small Business. See photos.

The commendation recognised KHC’s 2025 Small Business Sustainability Award from the City of Whitehorse, where KHC is based. Karli is grateful to her small staff team for their long-term contribution to the business’s success in delivering NDIS-registered therapeutic support to deaf and hard of hearing clients. Many clients come to KHC because local mental health services and hospitals often cannot meet their long-term needs due to limited Deaf awareness, deaf trauma training, and Auslan skills.

Many successful businesses from across Victoria attended the event. Four awards were presented: Lifetime Achievement, Multicultural Business, Women in Business, and Youth in Business.
Karli enjoyed the evening’s canapés and light refreshments and also had the opportunity to network with the two Auslan interpreters!

Research from eSafety Commissions showed that about 1 in 7 kids reported experiencing online grooming-type behaviour from adults or other young adults at least 4 years older over 18. And just over 60% of children who had experienced grooming-type behaviour said it happened mostly on social media, showing the risks associated with mixed platforms made for adults but also can be accessed and used by children.

This program developed by KHC will help those kids to develop awareness and confidence in recognising and reporting cyberbullying or grooming to proper authorities.

If you would like to know more about the program, please contact KHC.
