People have asked me why I chose to work with traditional herbal medicine and old-school naturopathy.
🕵️♀️The truth is, I chose it because I find it endlessly fascinating.
🙏🏽I am captivated by the observations preserved throughout history—
📖in ancient texts, medical writings, monasteries and convents
🤲🏼the wisdom carried from one generation to the next through
🗣️stories, apprenticeships, and lived experience.
🌀Across cultures, languages and thousands of years, people repeatedly observed many of the same patterns in plants, in people, and throughout nature.
☀️They noticed how the seasons influenced health,
👅 how taste revealed a plant’s actions
🦶🏼how the body, too, speaks in patterns.
🌍 The remarkable thing is these observations still hold true today.
💚The longer I practise, the more I realise that wisdom isn’t about reaching the end of the path. It’s about
continuing to walk it with curiosity.
🍂Every season, every patient, and every plant teaches me something I hadn’t seen before.
📚After more than twenty years in clinic, you’ll still find books open on my kitchen table and beside my bed. I still get excited by a new insight. I still find myself returning to the writings of herbalists from generations before me, discovering something I missed the first time.
To me, that’s the beauty of herbal medicine.
It isn’t about looking backwards.
It’s about carrying forward the wisdom that has stood the test of time while continuing to observe, question, and learn.
It
It is spiritual, it is a responsibility, it’s a journey I take alongside you. 🫶🏼
