A SOUND LIFE

A SOUND LIFE Helping people in need build the resilience to cope with adversity through music, yoga and meditation

A Sound Life helps people in need build the resilience required to cope with adversity and stress. We do this by using music, yoga and meditation to reinstate harmony between their hearts and minds. The most vulnerable people in our communities often have the least access to the tools for transformation, resilience, connection and empowerment. We are committed to changing that and to helping them

confidently surf the waves of life and realise they can experience complete joy within their lives. Since 2014, we’ve serviced over 50 facilities, positively impacting over 30,000 people in our community who need it the most. We have over 350 committed ASL volunteers who have delivered over 2,500 free music, yoga and meditation sessions to date. These numbers are a testament to who we are as an organisation, the culture we have created, our ambition and dedication, what we’ve achieved and the way we serve. Our compassionate and committed team of skilled volunteers include musicians, yoga and meditation teachers. These volunteers deliver regular programs to people in health care facilities such as hospitals and disability centres, while also delivering programs to underserved communities such as youth at risk and women's shelters. We’ve witnessed the joy and resilience our tools can deliver time and time again, which is why we are so sure they can make a difference to all lives and why we're energised to do just that.

Connection can change everything. open_hands

Mentoring is more than just guidance or knowledge sharing. It's about creating meaningful relationships that help people feel supported, heard and empowered to grow.

Because growth rarely happens alone.

Even through a screen, Katrina’s energy is impossible to miss 💛
With warmth, joy, and a beautiful sense of playfulness, she brings light into every space, creating moments of connection through music, conversation, and simply showing up with an open heart. Katrina has been delivering incredible music and sound sessions to our A Sound Life partners since 2020, where she started to deliver these incredible online sessions with Randwick Children’s Hospital.
“Volunteering with ASL allows me to be able to share soothing and uplifting music into more places where people are facing heavier and harder situations and give voice to their full spectrum of emotions subtly and directly through sound. Because music can connect us and reopens us in a single sound. It’s like magic! I love watching people come more alive and themselves again. Their eyes become more clearer, their bodies soften, more colour returns to their skin, and smiles grow wider. Their bodies remember! Because sound is one of the strongest and gentlest ways I know to pe*****te behind walls of protection that also block out love. Especially love of self and self expression. Sound is sacred and I am so blessed to feel, experience and witness its transformational power, for myself for my own expression and healing, and to share that with others. ASL is a wonderful, loving organisation that shares this love to more and more communities that need this unconditional kindness and love.” - Katrina
We are so grateful to volunteers like Katrina who remind us that sometimes a little joy, a familiar song, or a smiling face on a screen or in person can change someone’s entire day. ❤️

Co-regulation is the reminder that we were never meant to do life alone.

Our nervous systems respond to connection, belonging and feeling safe with others. Sometimes healing begins not with having all the answers, but with being seen, supported and understood.

At A Sound Life, we believe wellbeing grows in community. ❤️

Save this post and share it with someone who helps you feel grounded.

Happy birthday to our cofounder, Edo ❤️🎶

Today we’re celebrating you, and the heart that sits behind A Sound Life.

From the very beginning, you’ve led with music, presence and service. You have a way of making people feel seen, whether it’s through a mantra, a song, or simply the steadiness you bring into a room. Your care has created thousands of moments of calm and connection for people in hospitals, aged care, disability and mental health settings across Australia.

Thank you for the vision you’ve held, the love you continue to pour into this community, and the reminder that healing can be simple. One breath. One note. One act of kindness.

Drop Edo some birthday love below, and share your favourite Edo moment or song ⭐️

A gentle reminder to return to the breath ✨

In moments of stress, overwhelm or nervous system dysregulation, the breath can become an anchor back to the present moment.

This beautiful quote by Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us that healing does not always need to be complicated. Sometimes it begins with slowing down, softening the body, and reconnecting to the breath we already carry.

A beautiful chat with our Founder on the meaning of Yoga, of what union truly means.

The translation of the word yoga actually means “to yoke”. To come back into connection not only with ourselves, but the world around us.

Sometimes, when we get lost in our daily life, challenging times and the business of being a human being, it can be easy to forget, we can forget, but the magic is remembering, over and over again.

This is your reminder to remember today heart

Trauma is not only the story of what happened.
Sometimes, it is the way the body learned to survive it.

It can live in the flinch, the shallow breath, the shutdown, the overthinking, the tension, the fear of stillness.

That does not mean someone is broken.
It means their body adapted.

At A Sound Life, we use music, yoga and meditation to help people facing adversity and stress reconnect with calm, expression, joy and belonging.

A song can soften the room.
A breath can bring someone back to the present.
A shared moment can remind the nervous system: you are not alone.

As Volunteer Week comes to a close, we wanted to honour one of the beautiful humans who has been part of the Sound Life community for many years.

‘s voice has brought comfort, grounding and moments of peace to so many people through the power of music and mantra. Her presence is gentle, steady and deeply felt by everyone who enters the space.

Enjoy this moment of Camile covering the Ganesha Mantra even more special the version from our founders Edo and Jo. A mantra often associated with removing obstacles, creating clarity, and supporting new beginnings.

Thank you Camile, and thank you to every volunteer who continues to give their time, care and heart to this community. ❤️
