Last night I stood in Bondi where She Births® began.

My home turf. And I felt it — that golden light I’ve guided thousands of mums through in birth visualisations — flooding the room, flooding me. It felt like My heart opened into a million pieces and spread around the world.

I sat with my dear friend (and two-time doula client 🥹) and we went there — birth, motherhood, why i never teach the stages of labour first, the latest research on the pelvis and the brain, why birth is getting harder and how to navigate that, the system, the joy, the love, the paradox of life and death, of aloneness and loneliness, of mutual delight… and yes, s*x too.

This conversation will become a podcast. But last night reminded me — live events are magic. We beat that bloody algorithm. Just us, in a room, holding it all together.

Tonight is the night, and I’m feeling so many feels I can’t even begin to put words to them.

Perhaps I’m 9 cm? Perhaps I’m somewhere in postpartum? I’m honestly not sure where I am in the labyrinth of birthing a book.

What I do know is that it’s been three long years. Challenging, amazing, privileged, exhausting years - that have somehow added weight around my middle and ruined my eyesight along the way.

So many people assume that because you know a topic, writing a book about it will be easy. It is not. I was one of those naive people.

To write a book grounded in research, filled with 20 years of distilled wisdom, enriched by magical stories - to guide people back to themselves with practical tools, reflections and illustrations, and to hold every person and their birth with compassion - takes an extraordinary amount of work. And a skilled team, led by their devotion to the cause.

I could not have done this without .m.tribe .jade .the.dyad and many more.

Plus my parents and .britton who not only gave me great experiences to work with (yes this book is part memoir) but encouraged and believed in me the whole time, even when I was falling apart.

Not to mention all the beautiful families, both inside these pages and held in my heart. ❤️ Thank you. 🙏

I am a more fulfilled person for having listened to the Calling of my soul and creating this book.

I hope She Births reaches every family around the world 🌍, exactly as the vision showed me she wanted to do.

This book is for every woman and every man. For every grandmother and every child. For every birth worker, sister, friend. It is for everyone.

Because we are all birth educating one another.

You don’t need to spend a cent on pain relief tools for labour.

A banksia pod. Free. Native. And it works better than an acupressure ball or a birth comb.
