The champion herself ๐๐ซถ
Never in a million years did I think that this is how I would be spending today...that instead of riding down the centre line at Aachen for the World Equestrian Games, I'd be stuck in the ICU watching it on Livestream.
On Saturday I became very sick, very quickly, and was taken to hospital, via ambulance, where I have remained since. While we all clung to hope and prayed for a miracle, it was very apparent that it would be too dangerous for my health to compete, and, rightly so, the doctors would not discharge me. Those who know me know that if there was any chance of making it through a test, that I would have escaped down the laundry chute, and been duct taped to Macey to make it into the ring, but the universe had other plans.
Why? That, I'll never know.
We did everything right, we were primed and ready to leave the next day. To have it all taken away at the last step...it just feels cruel right now.
But I'm trying to focus on the positives...
I didn't die.
The Australian Team all still get to compete.
Team Macey is literally 'Ride or Die' forever now.
There are soo many wonderful people in my life.
Big thank you to EA for all the support they have provided me, especially Zoe who has gone above and beyond to help me. And Dr Tess for her medical expertise.
Team Macey - there are no words. The way you have all stepped up and supported Macey and I during this time has just been amazing. Lauren for going with Macey to Aachen and taking such great care of her. Knowing she's safe is helping me stay sane. Monica, for flying into this s**t show and without hesitation taking the reins. And Kate, thank you for not leaving my side, for helping me with myself, and sorry for scaring you.
Thank you to each and everyone of you who have messaged, text, called, commented or sent well wishes. It really means so much reading all the love coming my way at the moment. It's been a tough few days physically and mentally and all the support has been a pillar of strength.
I hope you can send some of that love and support to Lisa, Di and Mietta as they prepare to compete tomorrow. I do not want what's happened to me to take away any of the support or focus from them. I am honoured to have been named on the team with them, and my first thoughts when becoming sick was towards how it will impact them and the Australian team. It's been challenging for everyone to navigate and they have shown such professionalism and kindness.
