💥PRIVATE PRACTICE MENTORSHIP WORKSHOP💥

On the back end of our most recent workshop, we’ve had plenty of messages asking if we could run another one before the year ends. Due to the growing interests, we will be hosting a second workshop! 😎

Many university courses fail to give us the necessary skills to be successful in private practice. This is why so many new graduates suffer from imposter syndrome and effectively "burn out", believing that they just can't cut it in private practice. If you don't invest in your career, then your career will not reward you for your time and efforts. Did you know the general career span of a physiotherapist is 8 years? That is a lot of years to study for just 8 years of time in an industry. It is now time for us to develop a a system where we can create more success for new graduates coming into the private practice industry.
This intimate workshop is designed to get you READY for success in private practice. Achieve your potential as a therapist and learn from someone who has BEEN THERE and DONE THAT. In this workshop, we will:
✅ Identify common weaknesses in new grad therapists
✅ Work out individual strategies that will work for you to combat those weaknesses
✅ Common mistakes that new grad therapists make in their consultations
✅ Improve analytical skills for clinical cases
✅ Adopt an effective treatment model that will work for every initial consultation
✅ Improve confidence and overcome Imposter Syndrome
✅ Learn effective business and sales techniques that can make you successful for years to come
and much more!

It is estimated the 1 in 10 may develop plantar fasciitis in their lifetime (Riddle et. al, 2003) - it is important for us to be able to accurately pick up the most common signs and symptoms to help someone get into the right treatment pathway. The foot is a complex joint with many muscle attachments. Being able to accurately direct and tailor your treatment is so important!!

We hope you’ve all enjoyed January’s posts which have been focused on getting the basics of private practice. We now head to the next block of posts which will focus on training principles and how we can implement training into rehab 👍💪

An important concept to understand is being able to combine rehab and training together - we must be able to understand people’s sports, daily activities and be able to break down and analyse movements.

Watch out for this months posts which will help guide you through exercise principles ✅🏃🏻‍♀️⚽️

🏋🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️ Half of the battle sometimes is making sure our clients understand, comply and also, does the right exercises that we prescribe 🤣

Here are some strategies to implement to help clients remember their exercises!!

1. Write it down: nothing is more simple than writing it down on a piece of paper with a simple drawing. Sometimes I get clients to stick it on their fridge, computer desk and even at staircases to help remind them to do their rehab!

2. Send a YouTube link: find the right video and send it to your client. This will help them remember what to do but also they can access this wherever and whenever!

3. Video them on their phone: this is a great one for more complicated exercises or those that require more cues. This is a tailored and effective way for clients to remember what to do.

4. Practice, practice, practice! What better way to remember than repetition. I always get clients to do one set with cues and reminders, and a couple of sets without. Remember that they can’t take you home with them - so we need to encourage independence and learning in our sessions too!!

💥SHORT TERM VS LONG TERM SOLUTIONS💥

There is definitely value in short-term solutions to help manage pain. Don’t shy away from prescribing this, so long as you prescribe them for the intended use. To become an effective clinician, we need to understand our clients perspective- remember that it is CLIENT CENTRED CARE, not clinician centred. We work together with our client to develop a solid rehab solution, and that definitely does include short term pain management.

Empowering our clients to understand their injury, the purpose of short term solutions and the reward of long term management is imperative in getting them better.
