Mental Load

🧠 Interesting insight: Your brain treats unfinished tasks like open tabs on a computer.

That’s why you can feel mentally exhausted even when you “haven’t done much.” Your brain is still tracking:

✔ work deadlines
✔ texts you forgot to reply to
✔ things you need to remember later

The Nervous System

That’s why things like emails, social situations, or conflict can trigger the same stress response as something physically dangerous.

Your reaction isn’t “over the top”, your body is just trying to protect you.

Overthinking tends to go in circles and leaves you feeling more stuck. Problem-solving actually moves you toward a decision or action.

A quick way to tell the difference:
👉 Are you repeating the same thoughts? (overthinking)
👉 Or coming up with possible next steps? (problem-solving)

Learning to step out of overthinking loops is a skill and it’s one you can build.

The “Name It to Tame It” Insight

🧠 Fun fact: Simply naming your emotions can actually reduce their intensity.

This is called “name it to tame it” when you put feelings into words, it helps calm the emotional part of your brain and brings your thinking brain back online.

So instead of “I feel awful,” try getting specific:
👉 “I feel anxious”
👉 “I feel overwhelmed”
👉 “I feel rejected”

It might seem simple, but it’s surprisingly powerful.
