Today marks the end of Women's Health Week (7th-11th September) 💚

This year's theme is 'Do It Anyway', encouraging women to take small actions to improve their health. This year, women are encouraged to fuel, to move, to rest, to breathe, and to connect.

If you are a young woman in need of support, headspace is here 💚

One of the most important days in the mental health
calendar year, RUOK Day reminds us to check in
with others and initiate the harder conversations -
conversations that can be life-changing and lifesaving.

This year, RUOK Day coincides with World Su***de
Prevention Day, observed annually on September
10th. This is an opportunity to destigmatise the
narratives around su***de, and to encourage
compassionate conversations instead.

You’ll see us out in the community this week,
chatting and checking in with young people about
mental health, and reminding them that headspace
Box Hill is here to help.

RUOK Day is tomorrow, and serves as a powerful reminder to check in on those around us on ANY day, not just on a single day of the year.

So how do you check in?

1. Ask R U OK?
This could also sound like 'How are you doing', 'how are you feeling in life at the moment?'

2. Listen
Allow the person a chance to share how they feel, and take the time to validate their emotions and ask follow up questions.

3. Encourage Action
Gently encourage the person to engage with other supports.

4. Check In
It's important to follow up after having an emotionally vulnerable conversation.

Wear It Purple was created to ensure every LGBTQIA+SB young person knows they are seen, supported and never alone.

This year's theme 'Colours of Courage' reflects the diversity of identities, experiences and stories within LGBTQIA+ communities.

There is still so much room for progress in ensuring that young people continue to have a supportive space to express this courage.
