Cathy and Chantelle, we are seriously impressed. 💛

Our awesome participants shared some snaps from their baking at home, and we had to celebrate them.

Cooking and baking can be such a great way to build confidence, practise daily living skills, enjoy creativity and feel proud of what you have made.

And from the looks of these photos, Cathy and Chantelle have been very busy in the kitchen.

Thank you both for sharing your baking wins with us. We love seeing what our participants are creating at home.

Also, Cathy and Chantelle, if you would like to bring some along to our next Participant Day, we would be very happy taste testers.

Pretty please.

We’re going pink for June. 💗

This month, Beacon Support is taking part in Go Pink to help raise awareness and support breast cancer research.

We’re also getting behind our very own Donna, who is taking part in The Big Bold Walk as part of The 100km Power Walkers.

Donna is aiming to power walk 100km throughout June to raise funds for breast cancer research, and we are so proud to support her.

Breast cancer affects so many people, families and communities. This is our way of showing support, raising awareness and helping fund research that can make a real difference.

Please join us in cheering Donna on and supporting her walk.

Every donation helps, and every message of support will mean so much.

If you are looking for local events, creative activities or social opportunities this month, there are some great options happening across Brisbane and nearby areas.

We found a mix of photography, art, community events, comedy and social catch-ups that participants, families and support teams may like to explore.

It could be a chance to try something new, meet people, enjoy a creative outing, or simply spend time in the community.

Please check directly with each organiser for booking details, accessibility, costs, dates, times and suitability before attending.

Maybe your version of a little adventure is a scenic winery visit, good views, a nice lunch and testing your palate with something new. 🍷

For participants, families and support teams, accessible wineries can be a lovely community participation idea.

A winery visit can be relaxed, social and flexible. It might be a wine tasting, a meal, a wander through the grounds, a drive through the countryside, or simply a chance to enjoy fresh air and good company.

We found a few winery options with accessibility information available, including:

💙 Sirromet Wines
💙 Ridgemill Estate
💙 Jester Hill Wines

We’ll pop the links in the comments.

Looking for a creative community participation idea? Sensory art and interactive experiences could be a lovely place to start. 💛

Sensory-friendly activities can give participants a chance to explore art, colour, sound, texture, movement and creativity in a way that feels engaging and more accessible.

Some options may suit people who enjoy hands-on activities, calm gallery visits, immersive rooms, tactile play, or experiences that engage more than one sense.

These experiences can be a great way to try something different, enjoy time in the community and connect through creativity.

Please check each provider directly for dates, bookings, costs, accessibility information and suitability before planning your visit.

We’ll share the links in the comments.

We were recently inspired by Jethro’s story (if you aren’t familiar, we’ve shared his story in the comments) and wanted to share a few accessible skateboarding options that participants may like to explore. 🛹

Skateboarding can be more than just a sport.

For some people, it may be a way to build confidence, practise balance and coordination, spend time outdoors, meet new people and try something different in a supportive environment.

It can also be a great reminder that community participation can look different for every person. Sometimes it is a social group, sometimes it is art, sometimes it is a walk in the park, and sometimes it is rolling into something new.

A few options we found include:

🔹 Chiggy's Skateboarding
🔹 Shredability
🔹 Rock 'N' Slide Skateboarding

We’ll pop the links in the comments.

Curious about AI? This could be a great place to start. 💻

We’ve found a few free AI classes and resources that participants may like to explore if they want to learn more about new technology.

These beginner-friendly options can help explain what AI is, how it is used in everyday life, and some of the words and ideas people are hearing more often.

For some people, this might be about learning a new skill.
For others, it might be about building confidence with technology.
And for some, it could simply be a chance to try something new at their own pace.

We’ve shared a few options in the comments that are work exploring.

Check the comments so you can explore the options and choose what feels right.
