Congratulations to Dr Thomas Drake-Brockman, recipient of the 2026 AMA Diversity in Medicine Award.
A Western Australian Rural Generalist registrar, Thomas was recognised for their contribution to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion across medicine.
As President of the Rural Doctors Association of WA and former AMA WA Doctors in Training co-chair, Thomas has advocated for doctors with disability, international medical graduates, and LGBTQIA+ doctors and patients. They have also contributed to government advisory work on LGBTIQA+ policy.
Thomas is helping create a medical profession where more people can feel represented, supported and included — both as doctors and as patients.
