Congrats to Sam Scarpato on being the A&G Community Partners Luncheon Award recipient (not present, diary clash!) for his amazing support and work with the Sunlight Centre for nearly 10 years!

Taking a little pause today. Sometimes I don’t feel I have “days off”. Always an email to reply to, a policy to review or an event to plan.
It can be tough to debate with the inner monologue of “not doing enough”, so I take small moments where I can.
Reading “He who Fights with Monsters” at the moment, a great read to help some self-care.

Signed in & ready to present two seminars on Anxiety in our Youth at Padua College’s LEX 2026 Day!
Anxiety disorders are Australia’ most common mental health condition yet I believe they are not explored, discussed or understood deeply enough.
Let’s change that! Psycho-education is such a vital tool for any mental health practitioner, so make sure you’re up to date!

Training Day! A new Counsellor is joining the Sunlight Centre! I really enjoy this part of my role, teaching, psychoeducating, passing on what I can from over 25 years working in the mental health clinical world.

The Sunlight Centre is honoured to announce we have been recognised at the GHP Mental Health Awards 2026 with the “Leaders in Suicidal & Self-Harm Distress Counselling 2026 - Queensland” award.

The journey to keep an independent mental health charity, that provides free counselling Services and expert mental health Training & Programs, up and running can be a long one... so we truly appreciate the recognition.

We want to take this opportunity to thank our CEO Ken Loftus, Chair Sam Scarpato, and Board members Gerry O’Shaughnessy, Greer Sullivan, Grace Hurman and Michelle Johnson.
