LET'S TALK BOWEN - PART 7

When you come in for Bowen, I'm not just thinking about the one spot that's bothering you.

I'm looking at the bigger picture.

Your:

🧠 Nervous system
💪 Muscles
🦴 Joints
🌿 Fascia & connective tissue
🩸 Circulation
🌱 Lymphatic system
🫁 Breathing & movement

They're all working together.

That's why your Bowen session might involve areas you weren't expecting.

Your body is pretty amazing when you give it the chance to slow down, listen and respond. 💚

LET'S TALK BOWEN - PART 6

So where does Bowen Therapy fit into all of this?

Bowen uses gentle, precise movements over areas such as muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue.

The movements give your body sensory information and allow your nervous system to respond.

The idea isn't to force or manipulate your body.

It's gentle work that encourages your body to relax, respond and move more comfortably.

And sometimes, the gentlest work can create the biggest changes.

Less can really be more. 💚

LET'S TALK BOWEN - PART 5

"But my pelvis hurts… why are you working on my jaw?" 😂

I get asked this one!

The simple answer is your body doesn't work in separate pieces.

Your fascia runs throughout your body and your nervous system is constantly communicating between different areas.

So during a Bowen session, I might work somewhere completely different from where you're feeling the discomfort.

I'm looking at how your body is moving and responding as a whole, rather than just chasing the sore spot.

Sometimes where you feel it isn't the only place that needs attention. 💚

LET'S TALK FASCIA - PART 4

What can actually affect your fascia?

Pretty much everything we put our bodies through can have an impact over time.

Things like:

🏃‍♀️ Repetitive movements
🩹 Injuries
🪑 Sitting for long periods
🏋️ Overdoing it
😴 Not moving enough
🧍 Posture
✂️ Surgery & scar tissue

😵‍💫 Emotional stress
😮‍💨 Physical stress

Over time, our tissues can become less mobile and that's when you might start noticing more tightness, stiffness or restricted movement.

Our bodies are constantly adapting to what we do.

How we move, work, rest and live can all have an effect on our tissues.

LET'S TALK FASCIA - PART 3

Your fascia and your nervous system are more connected than you might think. 🧠

Fascia contains lots of sensory nerve endings that help your brain and nervous system pick up information from your body.

Things like:

✨ Touch
✨ Pressure
✨ Stretch
✨ Movement
✨ Tension
✨ Where your body is in space

So fascia isn't just there to hold everything together.

It's also involved in how your body feels and responds to what's happening around it.

This is one of the reasons I find the connection between fascia and Bowen Therapy so cool.

Your body is constantly communicating with itself. 💚

LET'S TALK FASCIA - PART 2

Did you know your fascia is connected from head to toe?

Fascia surrounds and supports so many parts of your body, including:

💪 Muscles
🦴 Bones & joints
🧠 Nerves
🩸 Blood vessels
🫁 Organs
🌿 Lymphatic tissues

So when something isn't moving as freely as it should in one area, it doesn't always mean that area is working on its own.

Our bodies are connected systems and different areas can influence each other.

This is one of the reasons I love working with the body as a whole rather than just focusing on where you feel the discomfort.

Your body is all connected. 💚

LET'S TALK FASCIA - PART 1

So, what actually is fascia?

You might have heard me talk about fascia before, but what actually is it?

Fascia is a thin, strong connective tissue that runs all through your body.

Think of it a little like a 3D web that surrounds and connects your muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels and organs.

It doesn't just sit in one place. It runs from head to toe, connecting everything together.

When fascia is moving well, it can glide and stretch freely. But when it becomes tight or restricted, you can start to notice things like stiffness, tightness or limited movement.

And this is where fascia gets really interesting…

It's all connected.

More on that in Part 2 💚
