Feeling fine yesterday, feverish today? 🤒 Know the signs of flu.

Influenza can cause fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches and tiredness. It can be especially serious for young children, older adults, pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions.

Help protect yourself and those around you:
💜 Stay home when unwell.
💜 Wash your hands and cover coughs and sneezes.
💜 Rest and drink plenty of fluids.
💜 Ask your GP about your annual flu vaccination.

Feeling unwell or unsure about your symptoms? Contact Aspley Family Medical Practice for advice—and let reception know about respiratory symptoms before attending.

You don’t need the perfect words to start. 💜

“I haven’t been feeling like myself” is enough.

This World Mental Health Day, 10 October, remember: you deserve space to talk and someone who will listen.

If things have been feeling overwhelming, start a conversation with your GP at Aspley Family Medical Practice.

Check in with someone you care about today. A simple “How have you been, really?” can open the door to a conversation.

📍 Shop 1 / 1368 Gympie Road, Aspley
💜 Book an appointment to talk about your mental wellbeing.

Save this as a gentle reminder: you don’t have to carry it alone.

Flu season is running late in 2026. Nationally, flu cases rose 27% in the fortnight to 6 September, with the H3N2 strain doing most of the work, so spring in Brisbane isn't a free pass.

Flu usually hits fast: fever, chills, body aches, a dry cough and real exhaustion. A cold tends to creep in with a runny nose and sore throat.

Swipe for the quick cold-vs-flu check, and the signs that mean you should see a GP.

The Queensland free flu program closed on 30 September, but some people are still eligible for a free vaccine under the National Immunisation Program. Ask us at your next visit.

Book on HotDoc or call (07) 3263 9951.

💜 **Noticing changes in memory? A conversation today can bring clarity tomorrow.**

This World Alzheimer’s Day, we’re encouraging families across Aspley and North Brisbane to talk openly about memory and cognitive health.

Changes worth discussing with your GP may include:

• Frequently forgetting recent conversations or events
• Repeating questions or stories
• Difficulty finding familiar words
• Confusion about time or familiar places
• Struggling with everyday tasks
• Changes in mood, behaviour or personality

These signs do not necessarily mean Alzheimer’s disease. A GP can listen to your concerns, review possible causes and recommend the appropriate next steps.

If you’ve noticed changes in yourself, a parent or someone close to you, you don’t need to navigate the uncertainty alone.

Bloating again? Let’s talk gut health. 💜

When should you see a GP about bloating?
If it doesn’t settle, keeps coming back, or comes with changes in bowel habits or recurring tummy discomfort, book a GP appointment.

Digestive symptoms can have different causes. Your GP can discuss your symptoms, assess your concerns and advise whether tests or further care are needed.

At Aspley Family Medical Practice, you can discuss your digestive health with a local GP on Brisbane’s northside.
