🌿 Vale Sam Neill (1947–2026)

Today we remember the life of Sam Neill, whose remarkable career touched audiences across generations.

From Jurassic Park and The Piano to My Brilliant Career, The Dish, and countless other memorable performances, Sam brought warmth, intelligence, and authenticity to every role. He had a unique ability to make us laugh, think, and feel, leaving an enduring mark on cinema in Australia, New Zealand, and around the world. (AP News)

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and the many fans whose lives were enriched by his work.

Every life leaves a legacy. Through his storytelling, Sam Neill’s legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come.

🌿 Reframing the Conversation Around Palliative Care

For many people, hearing the words “palliative care” can feel frightening — almost like a loss of hope. But in reality, palliative care is about supporting quality of life, comfort, dignity and wellbeing.

At its heart, palliative care focuses on helping people live as fully and comfortably as possible, while also supporting families and loved ones along the way.

In many ways, we are all navigating life while balancing our health, wellbeing, choices and priorities. Conversations around palliative care remind us of the importance of living well, caring for ourselves and others, and understanding the supports available when they’re needed.

If specialist palliative support ever becomes part of someone’s journey, there are compassionate professionals, services and resources designed to help maximise comfort, connection and quality of life.

💙 International Nurses Day

Today, we acknowledge and thank the nurses who care for people through some of life’s most vulnerable, challenging and meaningful moments.

From hospitals and aged care facilities to community care, palliative care and hospice settings, nurses provide not only medical support, but compassion, reassurance and human connection when it’s needed most.

Many families remember the kindness of a nurse long after a moment of crisis has passed — the gentle conversations, quiet support, comforting presence and care shown to both patients and loved ones alike.

To all nurses in our community, thank you for the important work you do each and every day.
