It’s never to late to correct your tilted spine.

A client who is aged 70+ has suffered chronic back pain more than 20years as a consequence of degenerative scoliosis. It was amazed to her the changes on her posture by only one exercise session. Although we have not achieved her goal which is pain free yet, it’s fascinating to establish the immediate outcome revealed after just a visit .

Do you all of positions or movements are tailored by the reasons and there are always theories and logics behind. This is how we achieve greater results.

The idea of “ position” is to bring body parts back to ideal 3D body alignment to drive best muscular functions, including activation, neuromuscular control, coordination and stability…… Correct alignment contributes to body balance and decreases strain on muscle-skeletal structures.

In the language of body mechanics, body alignment is achieved by placing one body part in line with another body part in a vertical or horizontal line. The centre of gravity is the centre of the weight of a person. A lower centre of gravity increases stability. A wide base of support is the foundation for stability. A wider base of support is achieved by placing feet apart beyond shoulder width distance. This can be achieved and demonstrated as the following photo. On the other hands , keep our feet apart involves hip abduction, which builds better stability on pelvis.

For people with pelvic shifting and as result of dysfunctional movement, this will be an alternative position re-aligned our spinal column. It also gives us greater sense of locomotions, as new motor patterns are learned through movement, interactions with rich sensory environments, and challenging experiences that challenge a person to solve problems they encounter.

A scoliosis brace is a medical device used in children and adolescents with scoliosis.

There are several rigid back braces available on the market today to treat scoliosis. These braces can be varied in how pressure is applied to the spine and ribs to prevent a scoliosis curve from progressing.

According to the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), they’re effective in around 80 percent of people treated with them.

Bracing can be effective for slowing or halting progression of your spinal curve when you have scoliosis. As the recommendation of brace treatment indicated by the Scoliosis Research Society:

1. A curve between 20 and 40 degrees that is not too high or low on the spine,
2. In someone with at least 18 months of growth remaining,
3. And being prepared to wear the brace for 16 to 20 hours a day until they stop growing.

The length of time the brace must be worn is different for each person. And the type of brace can be different by each person. Feel free to contact us for our initial consultation.
