Our residents enjoyed a morning tea with plenty of good food, friendly conversation and quality time together. Our wonderful dads also received thoughtful gifts from our staff to make the occasion even more memorable. 🎁 You can tell by their smiles just how much they enjoyed the occasion! 🥰

Last month, we had the pleasure of celebrating some of our wonderful staff who have reached 5, 10, 15, 20, and even 25 years of service with SCC. 🎉

These milestones represent years of experiences, dedication and the many contributions each staff has made to our residents, clients and families.

Sometimes, you just know when you've found home. 💙

More than 20 years ago, Tanis walked into one of our villas at Noosa Waters Retirement Estate, looked out to the garden and fountain, and thought, "This is it."

What began as a simple feeling has become one of the best decisions of her life.

Since then, Tanis has enjoyed not only the security and peace of mind she was looking for, but also something even more valuable: lasting friendships, caring neighbours, and a true sense of community.

Now approaching her 80th birthday, she's still actively involved in village life, contributing to the social events team and supporting fellow residents wherever she can.

Thank you Tanis for sharing your story and reminding us that home isn't just a place, it's the people who make it special. 🌟

This month, our Aruma Lodge home in Broken Hill hosted a beautiful Black and White Ball, with the home transformed with elegant decorations for the occasion. ✨

Residents and staff dressed up, enjoyed a delicious meal and soaked up the special atmosphere together. 🥂 Later, the music came on and everyone hit the dance floor, making it a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter and good times.

The evening was a wonderful success, with residents sharing lots of positive feedback about the event. A big well done to our Aruma Lodge team for putting together such a memorable afternoon! 🖤🤍

Our Castra residents always enjoy visits from the students at St Joseph's School, Murgon, and this time was no different!

Everyone got involved in a few fun activities, including balloon tennis and parachute games. 🎈 The children then settled in with residents to read some books together, sharing stories and plenty of smiles along the way.

It was a lovely day of connection, fun and intergenerational friendship. We’re already looking forward to the next visit! 🌟

🎳 Strike up some fun!

Last week, 17 residents from our Stretton Gardens home headed out to Logan City Tenpin for a fun bowling outing. With a helping hand from our staff, everyone got involved and enjoyed cheering each other on as the games went on. 👏

After bowling, it was time to refuel with some delicious food. 🍕 Some residents even had a go at the crane machine, hoping to take home a prize!

A big thank you to our staff for organising such a wonderful outing for our residents. 💙

Last week, our residential homes and retirement villages had our very own Ekka Day celebrations! 🎪

Our residents enjoyed everything from a festive Lolly Cart stocked with showbags, chips, and fairy floss to classic strawberry sundaes. 🍓🍦Some of our homes even had carnival games, a magic show, and a visit from farm animals! 🐐🎩

For lunch, we kept the carnival spirit going with Dagwood dogs and hot chips served up show-style.

Lots of smiles, great memories, and plenty of sweet treats all around!

For more than four decades, the name John Wren has been closely connected with cinema in Broken Hill. 🎬✨

Now a resident at our Harold Williams Residential Home, John’s love of movies began when he was just 11. He took a job selling newspapers so he could afford to go to the cinema. That early passion eventually led him to purchase the Silver City Cinema in 1982, determined to keep the big screen alive for his community. 🎥

Over the years, he became known for going the extra mile, including keeping the cinema open late so the Mad Max 2 production team could screen their footage. He was also known for dressing up as characters such as Rambo and Chopper Read to entertain audiences!

Although the Wren family sold the cinema in 2022, John’s legacy lives on. Today, the main auditorium proudly carries his name – the Johnny Wren Theatre. 💙
