‘My physio said my glutes are weak, that’s why I have back pain.’ 🫠🤬
Says the physio who cannot do a bodyweight deadlift.
You’re not as ‘broken’ as you think you are.
Wanted to put a few slides together talking about this idea of blaming muscles for being weak or joints for being broken being the reason why we have pain.
It’s very rare, especially in the powerlifting/strongman community, that anyone is actually ‘weak’. These humans are capable of shifting otherworldly weight, but suddenly they have pain and it’s because of ‘weak glutes’? ‘Weak ‘stabilisers’’?
But untrained individuals with no pain are ‘okay’??? Are their glutes stronger somehow? Can someone from gen pop lift a 70kg stone? 🪨
No chance - so make it make sense.
There are SO many reasons why a movement pattern might become sensitised, but labelling yourself or clients as weak, dysfunctional or broken is KILLING their confidence and progression.
Find a coach and/or allied health practitioner who can regress or progress rehab as necessary for your sport or level of fitness. And stop listening to people who call you weak. Please, because I can’t take it anymore 🤣😤
