Meet Lara 👋

Lara is one of our Senior Exercise Physiologists at our Cleveland clinic, with a special interest in helping older women get back into the gym, build strength and feel confident in their bodies again.

She works closely with clients managing osteoporosis and osteopenia, using safe, progressive resistance training to support bone health, improve mobility and reduce the risk of falls. Lara takes an evidence-based, client-centred approach - tailoring each program to your goals and meeting you exactly where you're at, whether you're new to the gym or returning after time away. She also supports clients with hydrotherapy, active ageing, chronic condition management and neurological conditions including Parkinson's and MS.

It's a wrap on Exercise Right Week! 💪

Last week, we opened our clinic doors to offer free health checks in support of Exercise Right Week and to encourage our local communities to get moving.

Thank you to everyone who popped in for a check and asked us questions - we're so glad you took a positive step for your health.

And thank you to the local councillors who came along to support our events - your support means a lot to us!

Exercise Right Week is a great reminder, but real results come from showing up consistently. The right movement, done regularly and guided by the right people, is what actually shifts the dial on your health.

This Exercise Right Week, we chatted with some of our Labrador clients about their recent exercise journeys.

From feeling stronger and moving with more confidence, to improving mobility and overall wellbeing, their stories are a great reminder that exercise can make a real difference at any age and stage of life ❤️

One piece of advice that came up again and again? Just start. You don’t have to be fit, confident, or experienced to begin - you just need to take the first step 🙌

This Exercise Right Week, we asked some of our Redcliffe clients a simple question… “Why do you exercise?”

Their answers focused on staying independent, keeping up with the grandkids, feeling stronger, improving balance, staying social, and continuing to do the things they love every day ❤️

Exercise looks different for everyone, but the benefits can be life-changing at any age. Exercise Right Week is a great reminder that it’s never too late to start moving more and prioritising your health.

At Hiya Health, supporting and educating women in our community is something we’re deeply passionate about and committed to doing on an ongoing basis 💛

Recently, members of our team had the opportunity to speak with the local Intuitive Mama’s group about postnatal recovery, pelvic health and returning to exercise after birth safely and confidently.

We discussed some of the common challenges many women experience postpartum, including bladder leakage, abdominal separation (DRAM), constipation, breathing mechanics and how to approach movement and exercise in a safe, supported way after pregnancy.

Having open conversations around women’s health is so important. Education, early guidance and access to the right support can play a big role in helping women feel stronger, more confident and more connected to their bodies during every stage of motherhood.

We’re proud to continue creating opportunities to share knowledge, answer questions and support women within our local community.
