A very special moment for Brisbane’s Latin American community. 🌎💜
Last week, I had the honour of being invited, alongside the Lazos LatinOz QLD team and many respected members and leaders of our Latin community, to Brisbane’s first Latin American Community Civic Reception.
More than a celebration, it was a moment of recognition, of our culture, our diversity, our stories, and the many ways Latin Americans contribute to the city we now call home.
As a migrant, this felt particularly meaningful to me. Representation matters. Seeing our community welcomed, acknowledged and celebrated in civic spaces sends a powerful message: our voices matter, our contributions matter, and we belong.
It was also beautiful to connect with so many passionate people and organisations who continue working to strengthen belonging and create opportunities for our community to thrive in Australia.
A heartfelt thank you to Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner for this important initiative and for recognising the value of Brisbane’s Latin American community.
Proud of how far our community has come, and excited for what we continue building together. 💜🇦🇺🌎

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads — and to every father figure who chooses to show up with love, patience and care. 💜

A father’s presence can shape the way a child understands safety, confidence, relationships and even their own worth.

Today we celebrate not only fatherhood, but the everyday moments that matter: listening, encouraging, protecting, apologising, playing, guiding and simply being there.

Because children may not remember every word we say, but they will remember how safe, loved and supported they felt around us.

Happy Father’s Day to all the men making a positive difference in a child’s life. 🇦🇺💜

Behind this achievement is an incredible group of people. To every single member of the Committee and Volunteers, congratulations! Your passion, countless hours of work, generosity and commitment are creating something truly meaningful for our community.
What you are building goes beyond events. You are creating spaces where culture is celebrated, connections are formed, families feel welcome, and migrants can experience that powerful feeling of belonging.
And from a mental health perspective, that matters enormously. 💜

Feeling incredibly lucky to have stepped into Yayoi Kusama’s extraordinary world at GOMA in 2025, and even more grateful that I shared it with my daughters and my mum. ✨

There is something incredibly powerful about community. 💛🌎

Being part of the 2026 Latin Kids Fiesta filled my heart. Seeing our culture celebrated, our children connecting with their roots, and so many people giving their time and energy to create something beautiful reminded me why community matters so much.

I’m so happy and grateful to have been part of it — not just as a volunteer, but as a proud Latina helping to build spaces where we can belong, connect and celebrate who we are. 💃✨

Because when we come together, we create more than an event. We create belonging. 💛

🇨🇴💜 When something happens back home and you’re far away…

Living far from our home country doesn’t mean we stop feeling what happens there.

After the earthquake in Colombia, many Colombians living overseas may be experiencing fear, sadness, anxiety, helplessness, or constantly checking their phones just to know that family and friends are safe.

There is something particularly difficult about experiencing an emergency from a distance:

Wanting to be there… and not being able to.

You might feel guilty for being safe while people you love are facing uncertainty. You might find it difficult to concentrate, sleep, or simply continue with your day as though everything is normal.

If you’re feeling this way, your emotions make sense. 💜

Physical distance doesn’t make our connection to our home, our people, or our roots any less real.

And if you know someone from Colombia, a small act of kindness can make a difference today.

A message.
A “How is your family?”
A hug.
Taking the time to listen without trying to fix anything.

We may not be able to change what is happening thousands of kilometres away, but we can help someone feel a little less alone while they navigate it.

Some of us spend so much time trying to figure everything out.
The next decision. The perfect timing. The right answer.
But what if you didn't need all the answers today?
Growth isn't about having life completely sorted.
It's about taking the next small step, even when the whole path isn't clear.
Give yourself permission to not know everything. To change your mind. To learn as you go. To trust that clarity often comes after action, not before it.
Be kind to yourself.
