A team photo doesn't capture everything, but it does capture the people behind Brisbane Mind & Body Clinic.

Every day, our psychologists, nutritionist and reception team work together to create a calm, supportive environment where people can access high-quality care.

I'm proud of what this team has built and grateful for the professionalism, compassion and expertise they bring to the clinic each day.

Thanks to everyone who has trusted us to be part of their journey. We're looking forward to continuing to support our Brisbane community.

Are we losing the ability to be bored?

When was the last time you stood in a queue, sat in a waiting room, or travelled somewhere... without reaching for your phone?

Most of us fill every quiet moment with scrolling, podcasts, music or notifications.

But here's something we rarely think about...

🧠 Boredom isn't a problem to solve—it's a psychological state that gives our minds space to process emotions, reflect on experiences and generate new ideas.

When we're constantly stimulated, our brains have fewer opportunities to:
• Process difficult emotions
• Think creatively
• Reflect on our lives
• Simply be present

It's no surprise that many people say they feel mentally exhausted, yet rarely experience genuine stillness.

This week, try a small experiment.

The next time you're waiting somewhere, resist the urge to reach for your phone.

Sit with your thoughts for just **10 minutes**.

You might be surprised by what comes up.

👇 We'd love to hear from you.

**Could you comfortably sit for 10 minutes without checking your phone?**

Life moves quickly.

Most people become experts at functioning.

Far fewer learn how to slow down long enough to ask:

"How am I actually doing?"

Some people will meet your words.
Some will meet your personality.
And some will meet your heart.

But not everyone will be able to meet the deeper parts of you.

People tend to connect with us at the depth they’ve learned to connect with themselves — with their own emotions, their own vulnerability, and their own inner world.

And that can be painful when you long to feel truly seen.

But it can also be freeing.

Because not being fully understood doesn’t mean you’re “too much.”
Sometimes it simply means the other person hasn’t yet travelled to that place within themselves.

🙌 What if confidence wasn’t something you had to “find” — but something you could practice?

According to Mel Robbins in The Let Them Theory, one of the fastest ways to begin rewiring self-confidence is surprisingly simple:

High-five yourself in the mirror.

Why?

Because your brain already associates a high five with:

• encouragement
• celebration
• support
• belief

And when you direct that gesture toward yourself, your nervous system begins receiving a very different message than criticism, shame, or self-rejection.

It may feel awkward at first.

That’s okay.

Most people are far more practised at judging themselves than supporting themselves.
Confidence isn’t built through punishment.

It’s built through repetition, compassion, and the small moments where you stop turning against yourself.

🫐 Small habit. Big impact.

Blueberries might look simple —
but they’re one of the most powerful foods you can add to your day.

They’ve been linked to:
• Better brain function
• Improved memory
• Reduced inflammation
• More stable energy levels

And over time, that can influence how you think, feel, and function.

Mental health isn’t just psychological — it’s biological too.

Sometimes the shift isn’t drastic. It’s daily.

Is your mind’s “memory factory” jammed?

Ever feel like a past event is still happening right now? There’s a psychological reason for that.

Think of your mind as a factory. Its job is to take life events, process them, and store them as memories. Most daily events are manageable — but trauma is different.

Why trauma sticks around
When an event is too overwhelming, the “factory” can’t process it. Instead of becoming a memory, it remains a current problem.

The trigger: Reminders act like a spark.
The flashback: You re-live the emotions and sensations as if it’s happening now.
The “stop” button: Avoidance feels safer — but keeps things stuck.

How to restart the factory
Healing involves moving the event from “current threat” to “past memory,” often through:
• Gradual exposure
• Real-world exposure
• EMDR therapy

It can feel uncomfortable at first — but it’s how the brain finally processes what’s been stuck, so the past can feel like the past.

If you’ve been feeling more overwhelmed, tense, or mentally drained lately…
it might not just be “life.”

Constant exposure to negative news can quietly impact your nervous system — affecting how you feel, think, and function throughout the day.

You’re not overreacting.
Your mind and body are responding to what they’re repeatedly exposed to.

The goal isn’t to ignore what’s happening in the world —
but to find ways to stay informed without becoming overwhelmed by it.

Small shifts can make a meaningful difference.

You don’t have to carry the weight of everything you see.
