Dr Jo Stephens Counselling

Dr Jo Stephens Counselling Brisbane based registered Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association Together, we can work through your goals to facilitate the changes you seek.

Over the past three decades, I have worked as a health professional in a myriad of clinical, managerial, educational and academic roles. Through my experiences of providing sensitive care to people balancing their mental health, acute/chronic health issues and traumatic injuries, I have shaped and honed a deeply empathetic approach to therapy. My focus is to develop a collaborative therapeutic rel

ationship with a person, to build trust, and hold a safe space. I sit with people, listening intently, without judgement, in a trusting and caring way. I am interested in all areas of counselling, and I have an avid professional, academic and personal interest in autism. Qualifications:

PhD - Queensland University of Technology

Master of Counselling – Queensland University of Technology

Graduate Certificate of Academic Practice - Queensland University of Technology

Graduate Certificate of Special Education (Autism) – Griffith University

Master of Adult and Vocational Education – Griffith University

Bachelor of Nursing – Griffith University

Thank you to our paramedics for what you do for the community.

Paramedics are highly trained health professionals. They work 24/7, often under very challenging conditions and in life-threatening situations.

They miss birthdays, family celebrations, sleep, meals and mess up their circadian rhythms.

Sometimes the pain, illness, injury, deterioration or death they witness rests heavily upon them. Having a friend, colleague, family member to talk to can help. So too can a counsellor.

Rest well tonight good people. If you are on shift, I hope it goes quickly, smoothly and you rest well in the morning 🙏🏻

It’s hard work being 2 years old!!

Happy birthday to Miss Winnie, her brother Bentley and other siblings.

Winnie and I have been working hard on our therapy training. Not too long to go. Assessments still to go.

What a delightful, sassy, soulful, ‘knowing’ little Australian Cobberdog. Can’t imagine life without her 💕💕🐶.

Thank you to Robyn and Greg at Ridgy Didge Cobberdogs for their careful and clever breeding 🙏🏻.
