Attending therapy is not about becoming the “best version” of you and having to change millions of things. It’s about building understanding and compassion towards yourself and providing acceptance and permission to all versions ✨

Self-worth is a common discussion area in therapy, and there are a number of therapeutic approaches that can support it.

One way is to increase the number of things in our lives that contribute to our self-worth — to diversify where our sense of value comes from.

Often, issues with self-worth can arise when we seek a lot of our value from one area, such as work performance, and something in that area falls apart — we lose our job, a project goes wrong, or we don’t get the outcome we hoped for.

If this resonates, read through to learn about just one strategy that can help ✨

Photos and videos do not show all of the parts of you. It does not show how your face lights up when you talk about the things you love or show the impact that you have on the people around you. It is one fraction of a moment. Humans simply cannot be put down to just one moment ✨

How do we change habits and form healthier cognitions? This is some science behind what is happening in our brain, why it feels hard and why it takes time (delivered in a classic Psychologist way - through a metaphor) ✨

✨Types of Rest ✨
Do you ever feel exhausted or feel just generally depleted from the day to day, but nothing quite hits the mark for helping you reset? Maybe you had a nap or had a bubble bath. Maybe you booked yourself a nourishing meal. Maybe you had a good catch up with a friend but are still left feeling flat.

This may be because we are not addressing the specific type of rest we need.

We have physical requirements e.g., sleep, social e.g., needing time to ourselves, mental e.g., breaks from screens or the news, spiritual rest e.g., time to connect with community and nature, emotional rest e.g., a space to feel heard or to engage to emotional regulation, creative rest e.g., engaging in a craft or creating something and sensory rest e.g., needing to minimize the stimulus in our environment and be somewhere quiet and dimmed.

Understanding what you need can really support you in engaging in the rest that will recharge you 🙂

A simple statement and reminder that grounds us at any time. Bringing us back to the present moment, the focus on what we are trying to do at that time, and a starting point for further regulation ✨

Welcome to our new series! ✨ Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to our wonderful team. Finding someone you connect with is so important for the therapy space so we hope that getting to know our team on a bit more of a personal level will help you find the person for you (or show how chaotic we can be 😂).
