Pregnancy and postpartum leave many more fingerprints on your body than stretch marks and droopy bo***es šŸ¤°šŸ½

With no help from the healthcare system to recover, and little acknowledgement societally of the physical costs mothers bear, we’re left to believe the physical effects are coincidental and ours to figure out alone.

Then chronic back pain becomes not being able to exercise the way you’d like, the functions of mothering feeling extra hard, and not feeling at home in your own body.

Let’s normalise: just as it’s obvious that our bodies are drastically altered, it’s obvious we need to intentionally rebuild.

That’s where I come in. Yoga coaching specific to the postpartum body.

Swipe to understand what’s actually happening in your postpartum body, and what to do about it. If this sounds like you, I have availability for yoga coaching sessions. Link in bio to book.

In my school mum, toddler mum, aunty, part-time employee, small business owner, part-time SAHM mum, married to my best friend era and I’m loving it 🄰

I feel calmer and more grateful for the life I have than… maybe ever.

I consider my days to be successful based more on what I’ve enjoyed and less on my productivity.

I’ve loosened my grip somewhat on running an imaginary race through life and realised I’m currently living ā€˜the good old days’. I’m on track to where I want to be and I’m approaching it sustainably, instead of starting every day feeling behind.

Not much has changed in reality but my perspective has. I few things have helped:

- Through journaling, unveiling what makes me feel happy, healthy, and aligned

- Investing in myself by getting a mentor

- Not waiting for permission or the right time and just taking action when I want to

It feels like a weight has lifted off my shoulders and ultimately, this phase of my life defined by motherhood is better šŸ¤

Hospital birth is the most common choice in Australia. For many women, it’s the right one. But ā€œmost commonā€ and ā€œright for meā€ aren’t always the same thing.

When deciding if a hospital birth is right for you, it’s worth considering: the pain management options you want access to. Types and rates of intervention. Birth trauma statistics. Who your birth team will be. The impact of a clinical environment on oxytocin — the hormone that drives labour. Staying overnight. Your hospital’s policies. And your journey to hospital in active labour.

Hospitals offer genuine choice; from a planned or emergency caesarean, to a spontaneous, non-medicalised vaginal water birth. They’re also full of strangers, bright lights, noise, and systemic processes.

Both of those things are true. Part two of this episode covers home birth.

Book a consult with me in my bio for support to work through these decisions personally.

PUBLIC VS PRIVATE MATERNITY CARE - part āœŒšŸ¼

This is part two of a breakdown on public vs private antenatal care in Australia — covering continuity of care, intervention rates, where you have your appointments, hospital choice, private rooms, and who your primary healthcare professional actually is in each system.

The short version: there’s no universally better option. There’s only what suits your values and your circumstances. My goal is to help you make an informed choice.

Part one covers the funding models and the research on quality of care.
