Heart of Australia is bringing a Heart and Lung Clinic to Kowanyama, in conjunction with Apunipima Cape York Health Council and supported by Johnson & Johnson.

From Monday October 12th – Friday October 16th, eligible community members will be able to access heart and lung cancer screening with a valid GP referral and appointment.

We’re looking forward to bringing these services to the heart of Kowanyama, ensuring equitable access for the whole community.

HEART 9 has officially launched in Queensland and will be delivering The National Lung Cancer Screening Program on behalf of the Australian Government in rural and remote communities.

It was great to be back in Springsure with our joint Mobile PSA Testing Program alongside our partner It's a Bloke Thing Foundation.

Since the launch of the program, 600 country men have rolled up their sleeves for a test across our 42 clinic days. 12 per cent of those men have been referred on for further testing.

We’re proud to play our part in helping rural men get more access to testing in their own communities.

Since launching HEART 8 in May, we’ve now saved patients in the NT hundreds of flights to the mainland to reach a CT and receive their lung cancer screening through The National Lung Cancer Screening Program.

By bringing our clinic across rivers and oceans into the heart of these remote communities, we're ensuring healthcare is equitable and accessible for more Australians.

Big events and bigger impacts 🧡

Our team was out and about delivering free heart checks at two community events recently including the IOR Family Fun Day and the Moranbah Health and Wellness Expo with Anglo American.

Our clinical team provided over 50 tests, giving insight into blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol levels. It’s been a hugely successful year working alongside our partners to ensure more Aussies have the opportunity to understand their baseline health. We look forward to attending even more events in 2027!
