I am a fully qualified Equine Sports Masseuse who studied initially with Equestricare. I have furthered my education with a dissection with the renowned Sharon May Davis, completed Equi-Tape Kinesiology taping and I'm studying Animal Neuro Myofascial Release and I recently attended EMMET. Equine Sports Massage works on the whole body, influencing the muscles, tendons, joints and skeletal framework

. I use a range of techniques to help release tension in areas of the body which may be causing a restriction in movement and lack of performance. I encourage and provide advice to clients on stretching, strengthening, nutrition, hoof balance, teeth and saddle fit. http://www.horsemassage.com.au/

Red Light Therapy - In my tool kit I use a red light pad and torch which further helps release tension, can penetrate deep damaged tissue and encourages repair on a cellular level. Benefits of Red Light - IN SUMMARY
LED’s at specific wavelengths increase circulation by increasing the formation of new capillaries. This allows more blood supply – hence more oxygen and vital nutrients to reach tissues. This increased circulation also allows for the faster removal of metabolic wastes. Studies site that LED Therapy stimulates the production of collagen. Collagen is an essential protein for repair to damaged tissue, including ageing skin and scars. LED Therapy stimulates the release of ATP – Adenosine triphosphate. ATP is the major carrier of energy to all cells. LED Therapy increases the activity of the lymphatic system thus promoting a faster elimination of swelling – oedema in tissues. LED Therapy reduces the excitability of nervous tissue by stimulating the release of endorphins. Endorphins are the body’s natural pain fighting chemicals. LED Therapy increases the synthesis of RNA and DNA. This helps damaged cells to be replaced more quickly. LED Therapy increases phagocytic activity hence helps fight infections. Phagocytes help to destroy and mop up dead or degenerated cells. LED Therapy stimulates tissue granulation which is an important part of tissue repair. LED Therapy stimulates trigger points and acupuncture points. LED Therapy helps to relax muscles and reduce stress. I find it extremely effective on injuries, scar tissue and acupuncture points. https://www.redlighttherapy.com.au/

Kinesiology Taping - extra charge
Physio taping is extremely effective at helping release tight tissue and encouraging blood flow to the area to heal. Assists with recovery. Helps support muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons. Can be used to activate a muscle group that is not being used effectively. Helps reduce edema, scar tissue and encourage healing. Very effective when traveling, as decrease swelling in the legs. http://equi-tape.com

Ohh my tonight we just discovered how to stop and pause a reel 🤣🙌

This is what these two TB’s got fed on this very rainy evening

Hugh is healing from acidosis, corn overload bowel impaction and he somehow had a Elastoplast bandage in his gut too

Ocean he has had chronic diarrhoea and acidosis that no one could fix, he’s now doing lovely solid poos

Nature knows how to heal the body if you put the right steps in place

😍

I do not know how to do social media 🤣 I just figured out how to do rolling reels 🤣.

Dancer girl’s first long trail walk today... 7.2km 🙌💪🐴

What a champion she was 💛

A question for you...

Do you think horses experience chronic stress and burnout?

Because I do.

When Dancer came to me, she wasn’t “untrainable.”

She was stuck in a chronic stress cycle.

Her nervous system was constantly switched on, her body was struggling, and she was carrying nutritional deficiencies that were affecting her ability to cope, learn and recover.

You can’t expect a horse to thrive when they’re surviving.

So instead of pushing her harder, I gave her time.

🌿 Time to heal🌿 Time to feel safe🌿 Time to build her body back up🌿 Time to learn that the world wasn’t so scary

Sunday, almost a year later, she marched out on her first long trail walk like an absolute superstar 🙌

For me, rehabilitation isn’t about fixing horses.

It’s about creating the conditions that allow them to heal.

And Dancer is proof of what’s possible when you support the body, brain and nervous system from the inside out 💛✨

This is something I’ve been doing for years, and I absolutely love it 😍🐴🌴🌲do you walk your horse?

It’s such an easy way to build:
🌿 Balance
🌿 Core strength
🌿 Topline
🌿Hindquarter strength
🌿 Mental resilience
🌿 A deeper relationship from the ground

Dancer has been with me for almost a year now 💛

When she arrived, she was stuck in a chronic stress and burnout cycle from her early career as an Arabian show horse.

She was sleep deprived, struggled to maintain weight, very weak in posture and stability and couldn’t build muscle.

You can’t truly train a horse that’s trapped in those patterns.

First, they need to feel safe. They need to heal.

So that’s what we did.

I gave her time.
I fed her well.
I loved on her.

And slowly she started becoming herself again ✨

Today, seeing her confidently walk out through nature and suburbia, trusting me and engaged, makes me so proud of how far she’s come.

She’s beautiful 😍Don’t you think? 💛🐴

She loves her hood too

When a horse’s poo looks like this, it’s worrying 😔💩

This horse came from a top trainer who had ruled everything out, but they just couldn’t get his manure to firm up.

What’s amazing is that within 24 hours, his poo went from complete slop to a nice healthy consistency 🙌

For the last few weeks he’s been on a simple diet of:🌿 Lupins🌿 Fibre-Beet mash🌿 Lucerne chaff🌿 Neigh Neigh Nosh hindgut builder and minerals🌿 Elitox toxin binder🌿 Grassy hay

Last weekend he started going through a bit of a tug-of-war internally. He was licking dirt and went off his food.

On Monday I decided to put him on ulcer paste, but unfortunately there was no change. He went off his food completely.

By Thursday, I decided to strip everything right back and feed only lucerne chaff, along with natural foods that have been studied for their gut-supportive properties:

🍃 Green banana🍃 Papaya🍃 Cabbage

With the hindgut builder and minerals

This morning I walked out and thought...

“Wow! That’s a solid poo!” 🤣🙌

Now we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it stays this way 🤞

The gut is an incredible thing. Sometimes healing isn’t about adding more and more products. Sometimes it’s about simplifying the diet, reducing irritation and giving the gut the support it needs to repair itself.

Watching this horse’s journey reminds me just how much the gut influences the whole horse 💛🐴

Relaxation with my Judi girl 💛🐴

You have to teach your Thoroughbred the art of slowing down... but it is so worth it.

The benefits go far beyond simply standing still.

🌿 Topline Development - they learn to breathe into their rib cage rather than brace through their neck, they begin to engage their deep internal core muscles that support posture and topline.

🌿 Mental Health TBs- are often busy bodies in general. Many live with a nervous system that is constantly switched on. Teaching relaxation helps regulate their mind and body.

🌿 Relationship & Trust - Thoroughbreds will become your best friend once they feel safe and secure with you. Relaxation creates connection and deepens the bond ❤️

🌿 Maintaining Condition - A happier, more regulated nervous system finds it easier to hold weight and utilise nutrients efficiently. Better gut health too

🌿 Pandiculation - one of my favourite benefits. Horses begin to release their own tension through stretching and movement. Today Judi stretched out her own hip 🙌

And last but not least...

🌿 It teaches us to slow down too.

To be present. To listen. To simply be with them.

If your horse can’t stand still, don’t force them.

Walk with them. Breathe with them

You might only get a 30-second window of relaxation to begin with, and that’s okay. Build from there.

For me, this is one of the missing links in horsemanship.

A horse that feels safe can finally start to heal 💛

The last month we’ve only had 2 full sunny days 😤☔️

The rest has been heavy showers followed by sunshine... or torrential pins-and-needles rain that feels like it’s trying to sandblast your face 🤣

The only dry area has been the shed and stables for two horses. The rest have had to weather it out on the open, bleak hill or find a gully (that they don’t do😂)🌧️💨🐴

Yet not one horse has developed:
✅ Rain scald
✅ Mud fever
✅ Greasy heel
✅ Hoof abscesses or thrush

And that makes me so happy 🙌💛
I only rug 2 - Dancer she has a sensitive nervous system, Shatahn because he’s clipped

I know many of these common “horse problems” are often linked to gut health, immune function and nutrition. It takes a while to build but is so worth it 🙌

A healthy horse starts from the inside out 🌿

So today I’m feeling incredibly thankful for this sunshine and crazy wind helping everything dry out ☀️💨

Here’s hoping we get a few more sunny days before the next downpour! 🤞

How have your horses come through it?
