Swelling is a natural part of healing after breast reduction—and it changes over time.
Early on, it’s normal to experience peak swelling in the first few days, along with some tightness, warmth, and bruising. As your body heals, swelling steadily improves over the following weeks, with most of it settling by around 6 weeks. A small amount may linger and fluctuate for a few months.
Supporting your recovery with the right care—like wearing your compression bra, resting in an elevated position, and easing back into activity—can help minimise swelling and keep things on track.
