Rosacea and sensitised skin are often confused, but they are not the same condition.

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disorder involving vascular and immune system dysregulation. Common signs include persistent facial redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, heat, stinging and inflammatory lesions.

Sensitised skin is a condition rather than a diagnosis. It occurs when the skin barrier becomes impaired, leading to increased water loss and greater pe*******on of irritants. Symptoms can include redness, tightness, dehydration, itching and reactivity.

While they may look similar, their management requires different considerations.

The common thread is inflammation.

Whether the trigger is rosacea, barrier dysfunction or a combination of factors, successful treatment often focuses on reducing inflammatory load, supporting barrier repair and improving skin resilience over time.

There is rarely a quick fix, but there is a clinical pathway that can help the skin function more effectively and feel more comfortable.

Healthy skin is not always about doing more.

Often, it is about restoring what the skin needs most.

This skin arrived feeling congested and out of balance. Today’s treatment focused on supporting the skin’s function first. Treatment helped calm and oxygenate the skin, while Hydro Diamond technology provided a thorough yet gentle cleanse and exfoliation (plus some manual extractions)

The difference is subtle but important - less congestion, improved clarity, and skin that looks balanced, comfortable, and refreshed.

Behind every sensitive skin is a person trying to navigate life the best they can.

This lovely client is a busy mum of two whose skin had been feeling red, reactive and dehydrated. Like many women, she had spent so much time caring for everyone else that her own skin needs had fallen to the bottom of the list.

During her treatment, the focus wasn’t on doing more. It was about giving her skin what it had been asking for all along, calm, support and nourishment.

Sensitive skin requires a thoughtful approach. Understanding the skin barrier, respecting its limits and working with the skin rather than against it can make all the difference.

Seeing the relief on a client’s face when their skin feels comfortable again is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Healthy skin isn’t about perfection. It’s about feeling comfortable, confident and at ease in your own skin. 🦚💛
