Try Hearing Aids Before You Commit

Not sure if hearing aids are right for you? We offer obligation-free hearing aid trials so you can experience the difference in your own daily life β€” at work, at home, and in social settings. One of the most effective ways to understand how hearing aids may help is to experience them in your own daily environment.

Do You Work in a Noisy Trade?

Tradies, factory workers, and musicians are among those most at risk of noise-induced hearing loss. If you've been exposed to loud environments for years, a hearing baseline test can show where your hearing sits today. Early detection means earlier support β€” and custom hearing protection can help prevent further changes.

How Often Should You Get Your Hearing Tested?

Adults over 50 are generally recommended to have a hearing test every two years, even if they haven't noticed any changes. Hearing loss often develops gradually, making it easy to miss. Regular testing helps track any shifts over time and ensures timely support if your hearing does change.

Are You Eligible for Subsidised Hearing Aids?

If you hold a Pensioner Concession Card or DVA Gold Card, you may be eligible for subsidised hearing services through the Australian Government Hearing Services Program. This may include subsidised hearing assessments, hearing aids at little or no cost (depending on eligibility and device selection), and ongoing support. We can help you understand your eligibility and guide you through the process.

Protect Your Ears from Winter Ear Infections

Winter colds and flu can sometimes lead to middle ear infections, causing temporary hearing changes, pain, or a feeling of fullness. Children are particularly susceptible. If symptoms persist after a cold, a hearing check can help determine whether the infection has affected hearing and what steps to take next.

🚨 Important Notice for Hearing Aid & Cochlear Implant Users🚨

If you wear Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids or cochlear implants this is something you'll want to know.

On Monday, 27 July 2026 the Australian Government will conduct a nationwide test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system

πŸ•‘ Time:2:00 pm AEST (please check your local time if you're in a different Australian time zone).

During the test, compatible mobile phones will play a 10-second emergency alert siren If your hearing devices are connected to your phone via Bluetooth, the alert may stream directly into your hearing aids or cochlear implant processor, which could be unexpectedly loud or startling.

To avoid being caught by surprise, you may wish to:

πŸ”Ή Turn off Bluetooth on your phone around 10 minutes before the test so the alert plays through your phone's speaker instead.

πŸ”Ή If preferred, briefly remove your hearing aid(s) or cochlear implant processor just before the scheduled test time.

We're sharing this information so our hearing health community has plenty of notice and can prepare if needed.

Please consider sharing this post with anyone you know who uses Bluetooth-connected hearing devices. πŸ’™

How Do Hearing Aids Actually Work?
Modern hearing aids are small, powerful computers. They pick up sound through microphones, process it digitally to enhance speech and reduce background noise, then deliver it to your ear through a tiny speaker. Today's devices are discreet, comfortable, and far more advanced than hearing aids from even five years ago.

Sudden Hearing Loss Needs Immediate Attention
Sudden hearing loss in one or both ears is a medical matter that requires prompt attention. If you experience a rapid change in hearing β€” with or without dizziness or ringing β€” contact your GP or audiologist as soon as possible. Early assessment is important, as some causes of sudden hearing loss respond better to timely intervention.

Noise Pollution and Your Hearing Health
World Environment Day is a good time to think about noise pollution. Traffic, construction, and urban noise contribute to gradual hearing fatigue. Prolonged exposure to moderate noise levels can contribute to gradual hearing changes that are easy to overlook. Consider where you're exposed to noise regularly and take steps to protect your ears.
