Look at where Olive is parked this week.
One of our immersive travel rooms has arrived at LifeCare's Florence Price Gardens for seven days, right on the water under those big pine trees.
Usually, it's the residents who get taken somewhere beautiful when they step inside Olive. This week, Olive gets a pretty special view of its own.
Looking forward to sharing photos and reactions from residents and families this week.

Big moment for us last night. Channel 9 came out and filmed Olive Express in action at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, and the story aired on the news.
Watching residents sit together, point at the screen, swap stories about places they've been, that's what this was built for. Travel doesn't stop just because life slows down.
Thank you to the team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne for welcoming us in, and to Channel 9 for telling the story.

We made The Age today.
10,000 Australians have now travelled with Olive Express. Through the Swiss Alps, Japan, Italy, all from the comfort of their aged care home.
Every session we hear stories. Memories people thought were gone, brought back by a place on a screen.

Last week, our team attended a screening of Human Forever, an independent film by Jonathan de Jong and Teun Toebes.

The film gives people living with dementia a genuine voice. Honest, moving, and asks questions that the aged care sector needs to sit with.
We had the chance to meet Jonathan and Teun after the screening.

Their commitment to changing how the world sees dementia is something we deeply respect. The Seniors Channel were in the room too, which made the night feel like something bigger than a film screening.

If you haven't read The Housemates, the international bestseller the film is based on, start there.

πŸŽ‰ FINALIST - Queensland Social Enterprise Awards 2026 πŸŽ‰

We are excited to announce that Olive Express has been selected as a finalist in the Queensland Social Enterprise Awards 2026, recognised in the "One to Watch" category.

This award celebrates emerging social enterprises making a significant impact in Queensland communities, and we are incredibly proud to be included.

Every week we see the power of immersive experiences to:
βœ” Improve mood and wellbeing
βœ” Encourage social connection
βœ” Spark memories and conversation
βœ” Create meaningful moments for residents and families

This recognition belongs to the aged care communities, residents, families, staff and partners who have supported our journey.

Thank you to the Queensland Social Enterprise Council for this honour.

We look forward to celebrating with the other finalists and continuing to grow our impact across Australia.

Dear Diary πŸ“πŸš‚

Yesterday I went to Japan. Today, apparently, we're doing Lapland. ❄️

Margaret had the window seat (again). Someone asked if there's wifi on the train. There isn't. There's something better , Pat next to her, a cup of tea, and a story about the time she actually went to Lapland in 1987.

Honestly? Best commute I've ever had.

Technology in aged care is moving fast and that's exciting. VR headsets are opening up new possibilities for seniors, and we think that's wonderful.

But we also believe there's something a screen can't replicate: the sound of the tracks, the smell of tea, and the laughter of sharing a journey with the person sitting next to you watching the Swiss Alps roll by... and then turning to Margaret next to you and going "oh MARGARET, I went there on my honeymoon!" and suddenly you're both crying happy tears and nobody planned that.

Can a headset give you Margaret?

We've watched phones go from "this will ruin society" to "how did we survive without this??" we once feared the mobile phone would replace human conversation and then it connected us more than ever perhaps the question isn't technology vs tradition. It's how we use both?

Sipping tea and pondering the big questions over here.

What do you think is the shared experience still the magic ingredient? Drop your thoughts below (especially if you're a Margaret)
