πΈ MENOPAUSE: MORE THAN HOT FLUSHES β PART 6
π βNobody Told Me About These Changes.β
We often hear about hot flushes and night sweats. But what about va**nal dryness, discomfort during intimacy or changes in urinary health?
As oestrogen levels decline during menopause, tissues around the va**na, v***a and urinary tract may become drier and more sensitive.
This is sometimes called Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM).
πΏ Common symptoms include:
π§ Vaginal dryness, irritation or burning
π Pain or discomfort during intimacy
π» Urinary urgency or frequency
πΈ Recurrent urinary tract infections
π©Ί Not every symptom is caused by menopause. Infections and other conditions can cause similar problems. Persistent symptoms deserve medical assessment, and any bleeding after menopause should be investigated.
πΏ In Chinese medicine, we consider these concerns alongside sleep, emotional wellbeing and overall health.
π Menopause is a natural life stage. Persistent discomfort does not have to be accepted as inevitable.
