I’m heading along to a low-carbohydrate course in Melbourne next month.

One of the presenters is GP Dr Ron Schweitzer.

I love the way Ron says he would be retired if it wasn’t for the power of a lower-carbohydrate diet.

I just wish all GP’s were aware of the powers of this dietary change.

Maybe show this to your own GP, exercise physiologist, dietitian, diabetes educator, and Specialist!?

Whack it into Google.

“What food contains the highest amount of creatine”?

“So then I don’t need to buy yet another overpriced supplement to add to my bulging collection”.

Yep.

We’ve been thriving on it for thousands of years.

Red meat.

Closely followed by herring and other animal proteins.

Not only will red meat give you a good whack of creatine but iron, selenium, all the B vitamins, zinc, every amino acid, carnitine, fatty acids and potassium.

It is also blood-sugar neutral and will reduce hunger and food noise.

Just like those weight-loss drugs.

Yep, skip the pills and let real food help you reduce weight and your diabetes-risk.

If that’s not enough, animal protein is one of the most efficiently absorbed (the most inefficiently absorbed is plant food and plant protein).

That’s science, as opposed to vegan/vegetarian marketing.

So keep it simple and eat the most complete, absorbable and nutrient-cost-effective food, animal proteins.

Kelloggs are a junk food company.

For your health’s sake, don’t get conned by marketing.

15 teaspoons of sugar equivalent per 100grams in this junk.

Before this sugar is stored as fat around your middle?

It will inflame and promote disease in your brain, bowel, heart, arteries, liver, pancreas, bone, joints, eyes, ears, prostate, ovaries, bladder and kidneys.

How do we let this rubbish masquerade as a health food 😣

It’s true what they say.

Life is about the little things.

Eating over years and decades is like little drips becoming rivers in our bodies.

Take the odd treat.

The odd treat of banana bread that you’ve had once or twice a week for decades.

Or it could be those few rice cakes, crackers, beers or bananas over decades.

They add up.

Take this sliver of banana bread.

It’s equivalent to 12, yep 12 teaspoons of sugar.

And if you say ‘I’ll just run it off, count my steps or move more’?

Sorry, this is a dietitian/dietary dinosaur myth.

I’d estimate to run off those 12 spoons would require a minimum of 2 hours of moderate jogging to even start to run off.

And the fine-print about exercise and weight-loss? (that your dietitian, exercise physiologist, diabetes educator or personal trainer fail to mention?)

If your insulin levels or blood sugars are just minutely elevated a few hours after meals?

Weight-loss (or fat-loss) is impossible.

So yes, you might be seeing your dietitian on a subsidised chronic-disease health-plan.

But your chances of ‘getting better’ are minuscule.

If you really want answers to minimise diabetes/reverse it, reduce dementia and heart disease risk, and know how to minimise prostate and breast cancer?

Book it to have a chat.

Along the way I’ll help improve your reflux, blood pressure, gout, skin, bloating, fatigue and brain-fog 😊

So good to see so many people out running this morning.

Just a few tips from my long running career (I don’t run any more after two meniscus tears 😭).

Running is good for everything, yes everything (except weight loss).

Many will gain weight with aerobic exercise (remember a banana bread or pastry is about a 10km run at moderate pace to run off so have a coffee instead).

Get strong BEFORE you run (then you can skip all the physio visits).

Take time to do weighted squats, deadlifts, lunges etc at the gym with a good PT).

Run slowly. Smell the roses.

Run with a small group or partner (it is brilliant to improve mental health and join a community).

Learn to exercise on an empty stomach (reducing insulin with a low-carbohydrate diet will make this possible and I always test for this).

Laugh and talk whilst running 😎

You asked your broker to put you into blue chip shares….

Instead they put you into a penny-dreadful that tanked.

You’d be very cranky right?

Then why do we allow food companies, health ‘experts’ and influencers to get away with it?

And it’s up to someone like me to break the news that superfoods, special supplements, sleep and step-trackers are not blue-chip.

They are in fact infuriating distractions from what your body really wants you to do.

70% dark chocolate?

It’s a high carbohydrate food!

Just 100grams contains almost 9 teaspoons of sugar.

Hey, don’t shoot the messenger.

See it as a wake-up call to spin.

Chocolate is one of the reasons why your waist and weight isn’t budging, your blood sugars and cholesterol are still high, you’re fatigued and brain-fogged.

Carbohydrates cancels out the minuscule antioxidant effect (just like the overblown red wine claims).

It is such a busy world.

No one tells the truth anymore.

The key is finding contentment in activity, music, language, exercise, community, hobbies.

Contentment found in food and alcohol is one that will, and is already, making you sick.

Other BS?

That oats, bread, rice and cereal ‘are good for you’ (BS).

And bananas are high in potassium (more BS).

Start by reinstalling those BS antennas?

And make a ‘contentment sans food’ to-do list?

PS. The only lower-carb chocolate is 95% cocoa that is 2.5 teaspoons per 100gr but is also v high fat so either eat very sparingly or not at all.

Unlearning myths are the key.

It’s not about learning new ideas.

Realising this will help reduce your waist, and reduce your chances of developing diabetes, dementia and cancer.

“But we all eat them”.

Yep, that’s why obesity and diabetes rates are skyrocketing.

Oats have always been untouchable.

They have almost this religious-life fervour about them.

Run your finger down the nutrition 100gr panel and it jumps out.

They are far too unbalanced.

Their almost 60% carbohydrate load becomes glucose in seconds in the body.

100gr is equivalent to 14 teaspoons of sugar.

You thought they will help with diabetes, menopause, blood pressure, dementia, bowel and breast cancer?

Oats and breakfast cereal worsen these.

It’s not being contrarian for the sake of it.

It’s being one of the 20%, whilst 80% struggle with health issues.

I used to be in the 80% camp until I went lower-carbohydrate almost 15 years ago.

Join the 20% for better health.

Join the minority and thrive.

So many voices and so little to say….

I hear you.

Everyone is an expert in the nutrition field.

Would you take financial or legal advice from your chiropractor or influencer?

Then why you take advice on your most important asset, your health 🤷

Seriously.

The second thing to ask is for how long have they been treating patients.

The third?

Do they walk the talk.

Would you take mechanical advice from a mechanic whose car has broken down?

Why then do we take advice from an influencer who’s never had kids, never had a long relationship, never had challenges in their life, never held a job for 20 years or who’s got nil realistic life experience?

Seriously.

Can we stop?

Too many spivs talk about the “1 per centers”.

Like a food contains a bit of vegetable oil, an additive, or a pinch of gluten etc.

Please.

Your digestion is being fried by foods that are the “80 per centers”.

The mountains of bread, cereal, rice thins, popcorn, biscuits, potato, fruit, alcohol and pasta you have eaten every day for decades.

It’s these foods that turn to sugar in seconds in your body and punch holes in you brain, intestines, arteries, bone and joints and turn them to Swiss cheese.

They also make you d***y, fat, sore, irritated and tired.

A great rule of thumb is look at the per 100gram label, and look at the carbohydrate level.

Ideally look for a product that has a 10g or less carbohydrates.

Now this jerky is an excellent source of protein and fatty acids but have a look at the carbohydrate level. It’s too high, but I’ve seen worse.

This will irritate the gut, brain, joints, cholesterol etc.

So stop blaming the meat for what the sugar is doing!

Better quality jerky and biltong will contain about 6g of carbohydrate and you’ll pay an extra couple of dollars but it is worth it.

Why?

You’ll get better and live longer for a start!

Is that incentive-enough 😕😉

Now this is progress.

Just around the corner from me.

Finally.

This takeaway IS high-protein AND low-carbohydrate.

Wow.

Truth in advertising.

Hopefully are leading the low-carbohydrate tide.

What has made us obese, diabetic, demented, sore, heart-diseased and exhausted is not the fat nor protein nor meat in food.

Disease, diabetes and obesity has been driven by the high-carbohydrates in food that irritates, inflames and is converted to fat and stored over decades.

Now just don’t muck it up and order the soft drink, fries, or dessert 😝

Unlearning myths are the key to getting better.

One of the biggest?

Exercise….

Exercise is good for EVERYTHING…

Yes, everything…except…

….for fat loss.

Understand this, and you are more of an expert than your personal trainer, GP, exercise physiologist, endocrinologist, dietitian and diabetes educator.

98% of fat loss?

Comes from dietary change NOT exercise.

Or….

98% of fat loss occurs in the kitchen NOT the gym.

Dozens of modern studies have confirmed this, but the myth lives on.

See this as a relief.

Start enjoying exercise again.

Do it to build muscle and strengthen bone.

Do it with others and your dog, as it’s wonderful for community, mental health, Vitamin D/ sunshine, and getting out and about.

It’s brilliant to reduce stress, improve mental health, blood pressure and improve circulation and sleep.

But it is not something to do for fat loss.

Unlearning myths will unshackle you from the barriers to getting better.
