Megan Crockart - Balancing Nutrition + Yoga Brisbane based Clinical Nutritionist and Yoga Teacher - in person, phone or online options

As a qualified nutritionist I can assist you with any health issue/concern you may have. I believe that good diet, exercise and lifestyle changes alone can often be enough to combat many illnesses and diseases with prevention always being better than cure. Many conditions can be triggered due to nutritional deficiencies and I like to focus on bringing these nutritional deficiencies into balance within the body using food as medicine, nutritional supplements, exercise and lifestyle prescriptions. I consider good food and a healthy lifestyle as extremely important however so too is enjoying life, therefore achieving good health should be about creating a nutritional and lifestyle balance. I like to help people achieve good health by equipping them with nutritional knowledge whilst also providing individually tailored dietary/lifestyle plans, cooking tips and recipes. My areas of special interest include digestive problems, women’s health, healthy weight loss, detox programs, immune systems and stress management.

My much loved 4 week detox program is back for this spring/summer!!!🥦

As it's a individualised program, you can start anytime you like. I have set a discounted price to be available until March 2027, so you can do the program over spring or summer - your choice. Either prior to summer beach days or post Christmas/New Year celebrations. You can include yoga classes or just do the straight detox.

If you have done the detox before, you are welcome to do it again. If you haven't done my detox program before, then now might be the time.

Unless you are a business owner, I don't think you can understand what a simple testimonial feels like to come through from a happy client!

A few minutes of your time to leave a review can mean the world to a small business owner.

I read and respond to every testimonial left on my booking program, but you can also leave feedback on Google review too.

Thank you so much for making my week with these lovely comments!

After 15 years in practice, I still get so much joy and satisfaction helping people feel better and get their health back on track!

Last week I posted up about whether you are getting enough hours sleep and the article is on my website if you missed it.

This week I have a number of suggestions to help get your circadium rhythm in sync to help you go to sleep and stay asleep.

Some examples include:

😴 Try to go to bed before 11pm
😴 Increase daytime exposure to sunlight especially on waking
😴Avoid foods in the evenings such as cheese
😴 Include nutrients such as magnesium
😴 Include foods such as turkey
😴 Avoid taking medications in the evening (unless required) such as paracetamol as it can interfere with melatonin production

To find out more tips have a read of my detailed article - https://www.balancingnutrition.com/?p=2328

How much sleep do you get a night?

Do you know how much sleep we need at different ages in life?

What happens if you don't get enough sleep for too long? Eg 4-6 hours each night for only a short period of time can impact mood, cognitive function, performance and alertness.

Have a read of my article here to find out more - https://www.balancingnutrition.com/?p=2311

Are you doing intermittent fasting or thinking about starting?

Intermittent fasting is where you don't eat for a certain number of hours a day and usually involves missing breakfast.

I have written about how this may not be appropriate for all people and especially women may need a different and earlier window of eating - see article here https://www.balancingnutrition.com/?p=1624

Another group of people that may not find intermittent fasting suitable are those that are constipated! If you are not going to the toilet for days, then intermittent fasting may not be for you until you have more frequent daily bowel motions.

This is because our body is programmed to pass a bowel motion most often after waking and an urge can usually occur within 20 minutes of eating. But not just eating a piece of toast. Your breakfast needs to be at least 600kcal (so a more substantial breakfast) to get the body going.

That is why if you are constipated and don't pass a bowel motion for days, you may have missed the morning window of opportunity by not having breakfast.

My tip would be if you are quite constipated (and whilst there can be many reasons for this) and are intermittent fasting, then bring back breakfast and see if it helps your bowel motions. It's more important to go to the toilet daily, then to fast!

If you feel you have more issues going on, then book in a consult with me so we can look deeper at your specific picture and ways to get you feeling more comfortable!
