🌿 Meet Dr Erin Miller | Provisional Psychologist (transitional program) | 🌿

Erin works with adults, providing therapy for anxiety, stress, low mood, burnout, trauma, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, and life transitions. She takes a warm, collaborative, and client centred approach, helping clients build resilience, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful and lasting change.

Erin believes therapy should never be one size fits all. She works alongside each client to understand their unique experiences, strengths, values, and goals, creating a safe and supportive space where people can explore challenges, build self understanding, and move towards a more fulfilling life.

Drawing on evidence based approaches including CBT, ACT, Compassion Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and trauma informed interventions, Erin tailors therapy to each individual. She is passionate about providing inclusive, culturally safe, and neuroaffirming care that respects and celebrates diversity.

Erin completed her Doctorate in Psychology at City St George’s University London and has 15 years of experience working as a psychologist across charities, the NHS, and private practice in the United Kingdom. As an overseas trained psychologist, she is currently completing the 12 week transitional program required for Australian registration. This is why she currently holds provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.

🌿 Imposter Syndrome at work 🌿

Ever feel like you’re just one mistake away from being “found out”?

You might have the qualifications, experience, and accomplishments to prove otherwise, yet still feel like you’re not good enough.

This is often called impostor syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is a pattern where capable, high-achieving people struggle to recognise their own competence.

If this sounds familiar, try these 4 strategies:

1. Check the evidence
What facts support the belief that you’re not capable? What facts suggest the opposite?

2. Stop moving the goalposts
Many people dismiss their achievements as “luck” or “not a big deal.” Give yourself permission to acknowledge your successes.

3. Trade perfection for progress
You don’t have to get everything right to be competent. Growth comes from learning, not from being flawless.

4. Speak to yourself like you would a friend
Most of us would never talk to a loved one the way we talk to ourselves. Self-compassion isn’t lowering standards. It’s creating a healthier way to reach them.

The reality is that self-doubt often shows up when we’re stretching into something new.

Feeling uncertain doesn’t mean you’re incapable.

Sometimes it means you’re growing.

❝Connection grows when there is safety.❞

In relationships, people open up when they feel safe. That means being able to express thoughts and emotions without fear of criticism, dismissal, or conflict escalating.

The same applies in therapy. A strong therapeutic relationship is built on emotional safety, where you can speak honestly and be understood without judgment.

When safety is present, connection becomes easier. And from that connection, meaningful change can happen.

🌱 Your Attachment Blueprint in Romantic Relationships 🌱

Your attachment style is a pattern.

A blueprint shaped by early relational experiences that quietly influences how you connect, communicate, and cope in adult relationships.

Attachment is labelled into 4 distint patterns.

Secure

You expect closeness to feel safe.

You communicate directly, repair quickly, and trust that conflict doesn’t equal abandonment.

Anxious

You track emotional shifts closely.

When connection feels uncertain, your nervous system moves into pursuit: seeking reassurance, clarity, or proximity.

Avoidant

You value independence and self‑reliance.

When things feel emotionally intense, you create distance to regulate and regain a sense of control.

Disorganised / Fearful‑Avoidant

You want closeness but fear it at the same time.

Your system may swing between pursuit and withdrawal depending on the level of perceived threat.

Why this matters

Your attachment pattern isn’t your destiny or the final destination. It’s a map that you can update with awareness, boundaries, and emotionally safe relationships.

If you’re exploring your patterns, therapy can help you understand the blueprint you inherited… and the one you want to build next.

❝When it comes to relationships, you don’t need intensity, you need consistency.❞

Intensity can feel like connection.
The highs, the chemistry, the emotional pull.

It’s easy to mistake this for something meaningful and lasting.

But intensity is often unpredictable.

It comes in waves.

It can leave you feeling unsure, overthinking, or waiting for the next moment things feel “good” again.

Consistency is different.
It’s steady. Reliable. Safe.

It looks like:
– Follow through
– Clear communication
– Emotional availability
– Showing up in the same way, over time

Consistency builds trust.
And trust is what allows real connection to grow.

If a relationship feels confusing more often than it feels secure, it’s worth paying attention to that.

You deserve something that feels calm, not something you have to constantly figure out.

❝ When you live for approval, the love you receive isn’t for the real you. It’s for the mask you wear. ❞

When your sense of safety comes from being liked, it can slowly pull you away from who you actually are. Approval might bring connection, but it often comes at the cost of authenticity.

Real closeness begins when you allow yourself to be seen without performing, pleasing, or editing parts of yourself to fit in.

Learning to be yourself is the foundation of genuine relationships.

🌿 Emotional exhaustion is often misunderstood as laziness, lack of motivation, or not trying hard enough. In reality, it is usually a sign that your nervous system has been under sustained emotional pressure for too long.

When you are emotionally exhausted, everyday tasks can feel overwhelming, rest may not feel restorative, and your emotional responses can swing between irritability and numbness. These are not personal failings. They are signals that your system is depleted and in need of support.

Emotional exhaustion is not resolved by pushing harder or being more disciplined. It improves through compassion, boundaries, regulation, and addressing the underlying emotional load.

At Mind Lift Psychology, we work with adolescents and adults to understand the deeper causes of emotional fatigue and to build practical, evidence based strategies that support recovery and long term wellbeing.
