Tennis Elbow can develop at almost any age, especially in anyone over 35!.

Usually it occurs after doing a lot more of something that uses the wrist and forearm than you are used to doing.

This is an injury that occurs due to the forearm extensors (muscles at the back of the forearm) tendon ( the structure that joins the muscles to the bone over the bone on the outside of the elbow). The tendon is compressed against the bone as it crosses the elbow, and can become painful.

Rule number 1 is to stop stretching the back of the forearm as this can simply stretch the tendon more over the bone and irritate your pain and symptoms further. It is safe to stretch the front of the forearm as in this video. In fact this can help your condition.

Frequently there is an imbalance of the stronger flexors (front of the forearm muscles) to the weaker extensors. This imbalance can contribute to non ideal wrist positions that may contribute to your tennis elbow.

Tennis Elbow is a complicated condition to get right. It takes time, the right exercises, and a good understanding by you in what to do, and, just as importantly, what NOT to do!

Cameron, senior physio and strength and conditioning accredited coach, at Physiologix Therapy Solutions taking a patient through testing following a knee injury.

Testing is essential to check you are reaching your goals, that you can move onto the next level of rehab safely. It makes sure all your strength work is carrying through to function, and of course, your ability to safely return to sport

we have equipment for strength testing, the gym to look at how you are lifting and moving, and a huge array of out door spaces to look at bigger movements, like running, sprinting, change of direction and much much more.

At Physiologix, we are committed to ensuring you complete a full and safe return to your pre injury level of activity......whatever that might be.

Have you had a history of clicky shoulders, or shoulders that feel “unstable”. Maybe you have had the shoulder joint pop out in the past, or maybe you are hypermobile (very flexible).

It may be that you have shoulder instability, excessive movement in the shoulder joint without good muscular and soft tissue control. This may already be causing you pain, and if not can go on to cause pain if not well understood and worked on by yourself.

But management is complex. Your Physiologix physio will help to address the deep muscle control of your shoulder, strengthening these through all your ranges of movement that you require for your lifestyle and activities. It is important to strengthen all the muscles around the shoulder so they can work optimally together.

It is also important to remember the rest of the body the shoulder is attached to! IS everything else as strong as possible to assist the shoulder. This can then be incorporated into higher level more complex tasks if needed. Do you need to throw, weight bear on the arm, lift heavier weights?

At Physiologix, all our therapists have a specific interest in shoulder injuries. Call us to find out more on 3511 1112 or contact us from our website at physiologix.com.au

Can't rate The Good Place highly enough. We all need to use recovery more. Put back into the body in a relaxing, gentle way. And to have a facility like this literally on the other side of the wall to us is amazing. Give it a go! No matter if ice bathes for recovery, infra red sauna for pain or stretching. Of compression boots for lymphatic benefit. AMAZING.

This is where he landed.

Infrared & Traditional sauna, ice baths, compression boots - unlimited access to it all for $28 a week. No lock-in!
