Today I sent a letter to Michael Schneider, CEO of Bunnings, urging the company to stop sourcing timber from high conservation value native forests.

I only recently learnt that PEFC certification, used on some timber products, has been criticised because it can still certify logging operations in native forests that provide habitat for threatened species such as greater gliders, swift parrots and quolls.

I was also surprised to learn that, while Bunnings has a "zero tolerance" approach to illegally logged timber, some environmental groups have questioned whether the certification schemes it relies on are strong enough to protect Australia's most valuable native forests.

Writing the letter taught me something else. My first draft was full of frustration! I wanted to ask, "Where's the common sense?" and declare it "unethical in the extreme!" Instead, I rewrote it to focus on the issue rather than my emotions. If we genuinely want to influence people in positions of leadership, respectful and thoughtful communication is far more likely to be heard.

If you also believe Australia's native forests deserve stronger protection, why not write your own letter? Companies do listen when enough customers respectfully ask them to do better.

Goji Berries
Bright red.
Loaded with antioxidants.
Contain betaines, which support liver health.

I was recently reminded about the health benefits of goji berries when a friend shared a chicken soup recipe that included a couple of tablespoons of these gorgeous little red berries. I'd almost forgotten how nutritious they are.

Goji berries have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries.

If you've never tried them, they're really easy to add to your diet. Here are a few ways:

❤️ Add them to porridge or yoghurt.
❤️ Toss a handful into your trail mix.
❤️ Soak them first, then add them to smoothies.
❤️ Add them to soups and stews.
❤️ Or simply make a tea by steeping goji berries with a few slices of fresh ginger and a squeeze of lemon.

One little tip when you're buying them: choose organic if you can, and look for brands that are sulfite-free and preservative-free.

GOJI BERRY TEA
🫖 1/4 cup dried goji berries
🫖 1-inch piece of ginger, sliced
🫖 1 lemon wedge
🫖 3 cups hot water

Add all ingredients to a teapot and allow to steep for 20-30 minutes.
Enjoy straight away or allow to cool and sip on throughout the day.

When people think about “lifestyle”, they often think it has to be something big.

But for me, it’s the small, consistent things.

Looking after my environment,
moving my body most days,
getting outside,
making time for things I enjoy.

Even simple things like walking, going to the gym a couple of times a week, or getting away for a weekend.

That’s what keeps me feeling good.

I’m not perfect with it. I’m still working on it like everyone else.

But I make it a focus.

Because when your lifestyle supports you, everything else feels easier.

What are the small things in your day that make you feel better?

A detox can help your body reset.
But it’s what you do after that really matters.

This is where most people fall back into old habits and end up right back where they started.

The real shift comes from building simple, sustainable habits that support your body every day.

That’s exactly what I focus on next with my clients.

Curious what that looks like?

Nothing extreme, nothing complicated.

Just a few simple things done consistently:
– starting the day with hydration
– moving my body most days
– eating in a way that supports my gut

It doesn’t have to be perfect,
but it does need to be consistent.

This is what I focus on with my clients after a reset.

Which one do you struggle with most?

A lot of women think they’re just “bad with food”.

But most of the time, it’s not that.

It’s patterns you don’t even realise are there.

I used to think I wasn’t an emotional eater.
Then I noticed things like coffee and chocolate were often a comfort response.

And that’s normal.

The goal isn’t to cut everything out or be perfect.
It’s just being more aware and making better choices where you can.

Things like energy bites, dates, nuts.
Options that won’t spike your blood sugar or leave you feeling worse after.

When your blood sugar is more stable, your energy and mood feel a lot more steady too.

Do you notice yourself reaching for certain foods when you’re tired or stressed?
