🔴 One More Dot in the Universe… A Tribute to Yayoi Kusama

Today we remember and pay tribute to Yayoi Kusama, an extraordinary artist who transformed her inner world into art.

Kusama spoke openly about her mental health struggles and voluntarily lived in a psychiatric hospital for decades, while continuing to create art.

Her dots, circles and repetitive patterns remind us of something deeply connected to Gestalt Art Therapy: the creative process can help us return to the here and now, give form to what we are feeling, and find moments of presence and balance.

🔴 In her memory, we would like to share a small creative experience with you.

Write the word CIRCLES in the comments, and we will send you a FREE colouring template.

✨ “I am just another dot in the universe.”

Thank you for your art, Yayoi. Your universe of dots continues. ❤️

Art Journaling/ Online Event

Art journaling, from a Gestalt Art Therapy perspective, is a reflective and experiential practice that supports self-awareness, emotional expression, and personal integration.

This 2-hour workshop is open to both mental health professionals and the general public (18 years and over). Participants will engage in creative processes such as free drawing, collage, and reflective writing to explore inner experiences, emotions, and thoughts in a predominantly non-verbal and creative way. These practices support awareness in the here and now and allow unconscious material to emerge into consciousness in a safe and contained manner.

Through the art journaling process, participants can reconnect with parts of themselves that may feel fragmented, develop personal meaning, and foster a greater sense of coherence and wholeness, supporting insight and personal growth.

Mental health professionals attending the workshop will also gain practical knowledge and creative tools that can be ethically adapted and integrated into individual therapy, counselling sessions, and group work.

The Therapeutic Art Journal is an invitation to make time for yourself, connect with your creativity, and explore your inner world through images, colours, and artistic expression.

It offers a space to express feelings through a different language, discover your own answers, and perhaps find new questions along the way.

Each page can be the beginning of a journey back to yourself.

Collage invites us to explore, cut, choose, connect, and give new meaning to images, shapes, and fragments of our experience. In Gestalt Art Therapy, collage becomes a powerful tool to support emotional expression, projection, awareness, and self-discovery.

Through collage, we can observe what emerges, what draws our attention, what needs to be seen, and how meaning unfolds as elements come together in a new creation. It is an accessible, profound, and highly effective technique for both therapeutic and creative work.

You can now access our Gestalt Art Therapy Collage workshop recording on demand, where we explore this process in depth, including its applications, expressive possibilities, and therapeutic value.

This workshop is part of our International Training in Gestalt Art Therapy CGAT© by the Gestalt Art Therapy Centre Australia, designed to support both personal and professional growth while expanding your creative resources from a Gestalt perspective.Invest in your growth.
