One of the biggest misconceptions about healing is that once we've done the work, we should never feel triggered again.
That's not how it works.
Healing doesn't stop us from getting activated.
It helps us recognise what's happening when we do.
Over the next few days, you may notice yourself feeling more sensitive than usual. A comment lands harder. Someone's behaviour bothers you more than it normally would. An old fear suddenly shows up out of nowhere.
When that happens, see if you can pause before reacting.
Not to suppress what you're feeling.
Not to pretend you're okay.
Just long enough to ask yourself:
"What is this really about?"
Sometimes the present moment is touching an older part of us that still feels rejected, abandoned, criticised, unseen, or unsafe.
That part deserves compassion.
It deserves to be heard.
But it doesn't always deserve the microphone.
This is the difference between reacting from the wound and responding from awareness.
The wound says, "Protect yourself."
Awareness says, "Let's understand what's happening first."
The more conscious we become of our patterns, the more freedom we have to choose something different.
And often, that's where the healing happens.
Not in never being triggered.
But in recognising the trigger and meeting it with a different response.
✨ Have you noticed any old patterns or emotional triggers showing up lately? I'd love to hear what you're experiencing.
