YOUR FIRST SESSION WITH GRAYMIND |

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, this one’s for you. You don’t have to know exactly what to say before you walk in. You don’t need your story sorted into chapters, and you don’t need a clear sense of what’s wrong. The first session is mostly listening on our side, and there is no version of arriving that is too messy or too unsure.

We go at your pace, and together we work out what you want this to be for. If that sounds like a place to start, reach out to the team via the link in bio.

GrayMind Spaces ||

Stepping into a therapy room can carry a lot of weight.

Even the most ready person carries something with them through the door: the thoughts they rehearsed in the car, the version of the story they want to tell, the half-formed sense that they should have come sooner, or that they shouldn’t have come at all.

Whatever you bring through the door, you don’t have to put it down all at once. We’re here to guide you, one step at a time, in a way that feels good for you.

GrayMind Spaces ||

There are a lot of small things that go into making our practice feel like a safe and calming space. Our new GrayMind mugs are one of them.

We consider it all: the cosy lounge chair, the warm lighting, the soothing colour palette, and of course, the cup of tea that’s actually warm, in a mug that someone chose with care.

We don’t think therapy spaces should feel like clinics. We think they should feel like a room you can settle into. Our new mugs are a small part of that, we hope you enjoy sipping from them.

The things I wish I had known before starting therapy…|

1. The relationship with your therapist matters - big time.
2. It’s not a locked-in contract.
3. What you put in, you get out.
4. It’s not a quick fix.
5. It’s not all “a-ha” moments every session.
6. Consistency is key.
7. Sessions can be the good, the bad and the ugly.

What’s something you wish you had known before starting therapy?

They say you need rest, but there’s a lot more to it than you think…|

Rest is not just sleep.

It is the deliberate reduction of demand across different systems including cognitive, emotional, sensory, and social.

Different types of rest target different forms of depletion;
~ Time off reduces role strain.
~ Silence and switching off devices reduce sensory load.
~ Time alone or in nature supports nervous system regulation.
~ Being cared for and unmasking reduces emotional effort.
~ Creativity, inspiration, and play restore cognitive flexibility.

If rest is not working, it is often because it is not the right type.
Effective rest is specific, not passive, and not always comfortable.

Which do you need right now?
