always, always practicing non attachment, aparigraha. Allowing what was be what was and what will be, what will be! Creating space to be present & flow with changes of life ✨

A little note to say - I’m no longer practicing in my personal naturopathic business. One of a selection of things I have let go of this year. Sadly, as much as I enjoyed working with my clients and the little business I created, I realised it wasn’t for me at this point in my life. Still figuring out where I am & where I want to be. Hope everyone is doing ok out there, big love! x

4 ways you can incorporate herbal medicine into daily rituals to support your menstrual cycle 🌿🩸:
⠀⠀
Herbal teas/infusions: my personal fave! I’ve got quite a few posts on this, but you can use herbal infusions during any phase of your cycle whether to support healthy ovulation or reduce premenstrual symptoms. My go-to’s are always nettle & raspberry leaf, which you can use anytime of the cycle, but are especially useful in the luteal & menstrual phase to to tone the uterus & reduce cramps (raspberry leaf) & replenish blood minerals & energy (nettle).
⠀⠀
Herbal extracts: I recommend working with a qualified naturopath or herbalist before taking these more concentrated doses of herbal medicine. But of course this can also be a very effective way of cycle support, especially if you may need a stronger dose of herbs due to targeting specific issues related to the fluctuations in your hormones. Message me if you are interested in using herbs in this way, as I love using herbal extracts with clients!
⠀⠀
Herb infused body oils: a more tactile way you can connect with your body throughout your cycle. Infuse herbs into an oil base (or buy ready made) & rub all over or just focus on your belly area, around your uterus. Self massage is a great way to support the lymph, the body’s inbuilt detox system and can help reduce puffiness, bloating & period pain, as well as providing a way you can slow down and reconnect with yourself.
⠀⠀
Herbal baths: herb infused baths can be beneficial during any phase of the cycle, but you may find the most benefit during the late luteal/premenstrual phase when you begin to slow down, turn inward and nurture yourself before you bleed. Pop some chamomile, lavender & oatmeal in the bath to nourish the nervous system and soothe the skin.
⠀⠀
Other uses for herbs: hot or cold compress, edible herbal vinegars or oils, moxibustion, cleansing herbal sticks and so so much more ...
⠀⠀
How do you use herbs through out your cycle?? Please share below - I’d love to know✨

syncing up with your inner seasons, the 4 phases of your menstrual cycle 🩸🌹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
cycle syncing has allowed me to create such a deeper connection with my body, my mind & my self care. as I’ve learnt more about how my hormones fluctuate throughout each cycle & how this impacts my energy, my mood, my desire to be social and the ideal ways to fuel my body nutritionally, I’ve become more aware of what my body needs depending on the day and what I can do to nurture it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Currently on cycle day 6 which means I feel ready to emerge from my menstrual cocoon (inner winter), when it feels best to withdraw, rest & connect. I had my yoga teacher training during this period so unfortunately I didn’t get much of a chance to do these things - so I plan to try and take it easy during my follicular phase to prevent exhaustion.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will be sharing more on cycle syncing and what that can look like over the next month or so. And if you are interested - I’ll be holding a mini workshop on this topic & how you can use essential oils as a tool to sync with your cycle in early June in West End. Let me know if you are interested & I’ll send you more info! ♡ ♡

New recipe up on my website, home-made rosemary baked beans ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m obsessed with this recipe & can’t stop making it lately. It’s perfect to make in bulk & keep in the fridge for those mornings when you want something warm & savoury but don’t have much time. High in fiber to assist with elimination of excess estrogen (great for hormonal balance) & rich in protein, which is important to include at breakfast to maintain blood sugar balance & set you up for stable energy for the rest of the day!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please try it and let me know what you think, you can find the link to the recipe in my bio ♥ ♥

three of my most favourite herbs for the nervous system 🌹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Oatstraw ~ a nervine tonic, nourishes & strengthens nervous system function, supportive during times of nervous exhaustion
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tulsi/holy basil ~ an adaptogen, helps the body adapt to any kind of physical, emotional or biological stress, quietens the overactive mind
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rose ~ the ultimate comforter for the heart & the mind, a natural anti-depressant & anxiolytic
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve combined all of these beauties in my tea blend ‘nurture’ with the intention to bring warmth & comfort in the form of an herbal tea ritual. Can be used as a daily tonic or whenever you feel like you need some extra nurturing ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hoping to have this up to sell on my website some day soon, but in the meantime, message me if you are interested & I’ll find a way to get it to you!

It’s quite worrying how many people I’ve come across in my life who have endometriosis. It affects 1 in 9 Australian women, but what’s most concerning is that it takes on average 8-10 years to be diagnosed. Can you imagine suffering with pain (not to mention the other symptoms like digestive issues, fatigue, infertility) for 10 years and not knowing why or being given the support to work through it?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With endometriosis, tissue very similar to the endometrial tissue which lines the uterus, grows in other areas of the body and still responds to hormonal fluctuations. So it builds up and breaks down, just like period blood, except it’s unable to leave the body like period blood does. This can cause severe inflammation and pain and as a result, a severely impacted quality of life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have period pain that lasts for several days, prevents you from going about your usual activities, causes vomiting and/or doesn’t respond to ibuprofen... it’s possible you could have endometriosis. While endometriosis may be able to be detected on a transvaginal ultrasound, the only way it can be confirmed is through laparoscopy,a keyhole surgery. If you suspect you may have endometriosis, I urge you to find a gynaecologist who will take you seriously and get you a diagnosis. You can also work with a naturopath such as myself, who can give you many tools to help manage your symptoms and improve your quality of life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As always, feel free to contact me with any questions, or if you would like to know more about how I can offer support for endometriosis.

I’m still taking naturopathic consultations online, however with reduced availability as over the next few months I’m going to be dedicating a lot of my time to yoga teacher training !! YTT is something I’ve thought about doing for a while now, but always thought I was never good enough at my own practice to even consider learning how to teach others. I’m so glad I was able to move past this limiting belief as after only 1 weekend of doing the YTT I know I’ve made the right decision (and have already learnt so much!) 🥰
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I feel like yoga & naturopathy are the perfect pair, because naturopathic medicine is an inherently holistic modality, which ideally considers so much more than just nutrition & herbal medicine. I believe it’s also important to consider the positive impact that movement, harnessing the breath, meditation and mindfulness have on our health and I want to encourage and teach my clients how to incorporate these practices into their daily life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So this year you can expect all my usual content on hormones & cycle health but also expect sprinkles of everything yoga 🧘🏼‍♀️🌞

I wanted to start the year off by talking more about the little butterfly shaped gland in your neck - the thyroid 🦋
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a naturopath, thyroid function is one of the first things I consider when clients are feeling ‘off’. This is because the thyroid has an influence on almost everything in the body. Speaking generally, the thyroid is your metabolism regulator. So if you have an under active thyroid, everything slows down. Think sluggish digestion, weight gain, fatigue, irregular cycles, heavy periods, hair loss, lower body temperature & sensitivity to the cold, dry skin, low mood and brain fog. If you have an over active thyroid, everything speeds up.... frequent bowel movements, weight loss, rapid heart beat, higher body temperature, light periods and sensitivity to the heat, anxiety. Some symptoms do overlap, but if you have thyroid dysfunction, you’ll generally fit the symptom picture of one more than the other.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because the thyroid has an affect on so many different body systems and processes, it’s very important to consider whether thyroid dysfunction could be the cause of your symptoms.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To appropriately asses your thyroid function, I recommend getting a comprehensive thyroid test done. Unfortunately, your GP is unlikely to check all the markers necessary to completely rule out thyroid dysfunction. So I am here to fill in the gaps! Not only can I order this test for you, but I can analyse the results and recommended natural herbal & nutritional treatment to get you feeling better ASAP ✨🌞
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please get in contact if this is something that you are interested in, I would love to assist you 💛

On the second last day of 2020, I wanted to remind you not to feel guilt tripped into any ‘new year, new you’ diet culture/weight loss marketing ploys.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨weight may be an indicator of health but it is not necessarily a good indicator or the only indicator of health✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ diets have been proved to be highly unsuccessful and more often than not they simply trigger unhealthy behaviours due to restriction, negatively impacting mental health as a result✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨& you don’t need to change the way you look to suit society’s fat phobic ideals of what healthy & happy looks like ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Health is not defined by your BMI or how you look!! Please, please, please.... instead of focussing on weight loss as the ultimate goal to be ‘healthier’ and ‘happier’, try incorporating holistic healthy behaviours that make you feel good physically, mentally AND emotionally 🌸🦋
