The pain you feel isn’t always where the real problem is.

Do you suffer from neck pain that travels up into your head?
Or tightness around your shoulder blades that seems to “move” into other areas?

You may be experiencing myofascial pain syndrome, which is often linked to trigger points

Trigger points are tight muscle “knots” that can develop from muscle overload, stress, poor posture, repetitive movement, or long periods of sitting.

The interesting part?
They can create referred pain — meaning the source of the problem may be in one area, but the pain is felt somewhere else.

Treatment may include:
✔️ Myofascial release techniques
✔️ Dry needling
✔️ Targeted stretching
✔️ Progressive strengthening and movement rehabilitation

Current research supports gradual strengthening, improved movement quality, and long-term load management as important parts of managing trigger points and muscle-related pain.

📞 Don’t wait for the pain to “just go away.”

Treating the source of the problem may help reduce ongoing pain, improve movement, and support better function.

Book an appointment today and take the first step toward moving better.

Resistance training is one of the most effective ways to improve strength, balance, mobility, independence, and overall health at any age.
Your body adapts when it is challenged appropriately. Bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue all respond to regular movement and load.
Research shows that older adults can improve in meaningful ways through resistance training, including:
- muscle strength
- balance
- walking ability
- daily function, and independence.

There is no perfect program for everyone.
The most important step is to start, train safely, and stay consistent.
Resistance will look different for each person depending on age, fitness level, injuries, and goals.
If you are unsure where to start or would like guidance on a safe and effective program, contact us.

DRY NEEDLING & TRIGGER POINTS
Tight, sensitive muscle knots, often called trigger points, can develop from stress, poor posture, injury, fatigue, repetitive overload, poor sleep or altered movement patterns.
Dry needling is a physiotherapy technique used to target and release tight muscle bands with precision.
It may help to:
✔️ Reduce pain and muscle tension
✔️ Improve muscle relaxation
✔️ Improve resting muscle tone
✔️ Restore better movement control
At Heal-It Physio, dry needling is not used as a stand-alone treatment. It creates a “window of opportunity” so we can progress into strengthening, movement retraining and corrective rehabilitation.

The best results come when dry needling is used at the right time, for the right reason, alongside a personalised rehab plan.

🔹 Understanding Pain – It's Not Just in Your Body

🌿 Let’s talk about pain. 🌿

Most people think pain means something is damaged, but that’s not always true.

Pain is your body’s alarm system. It’s your brain’s way of saying, “Something’s not right.” But sometimes, the alarm keeps ringing even after the body has healed.

Your brain takes in signals from your body, your environment, your mood, even your past experiences, and decides how much pain you feel.

That’s why:
✅ You can have pain without injury
✅ You can have injury without pain
✅ You can change how sensitive your system is

✨ The good news? Pain isn’t fixed. Your nervous system is constantly adjusting, and with the right approach, it can be retrained.

At Heal It Physiotherapy, I help you:
✔️ Understand your pain
✔️ Calm the alarm system
✔️ Build movement confidence
✔️ Develop tools for long-term self-management

You’re not just a collection of symptoms, I work with you holistically to support your recovery and help you move forward with strength and confidence 🧡
