Why I recommend continuing weekly acupuncture during the first trimester.

A positive pregnancy test is such a special milestone after the journey of trying to conceive.

While it's often the moment we celebrate reaching that goal, from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective it's also the beginning of an important new chapter, as we shift our focus from supporting conception to supporting and nourishing a developing pregnancy.

It's also around this time that we often have a conversation about what treatment might look like over the coming weeks and months. Many women wonder whether they still need to come as regularly now that they're pregnant.

In Chinese medicine, we place a strong focus on nourishing Kidney energy, which plays a central role in conception, pregnancy, and supporting and nourishing a developing pregnancy.

Your body is also adapting to enormous physical and hormonal changes. During this time, acupuncture may provide gentle support as your body adjusts, with treatments always tailored to your individual needs and symptoms.

Many women experience nausea, fatigue, headaches, poor sleep or heightened anxiety during the first trimester. Continuing regular treatment allows us to support you through these changes while monitoring how you're feeling from week to week.

Once you're into the second trimester and everything is progressing well, we can usually begin spacing treatments further apart. For many women, this means moving to treatments every 3 to 4 weeks, although your treatment plan is always tailored to you and your pregnancy.

If you're unsure what treatment schedule may be most appropriate during your pregnancy, please reach out. I'd be happy to chat through what may be right for you.

It's something I hear surprisingly often.

Many women assume they must simply be stressed or overwhelmed, when sometimes there's another piece to the puzzle.

Hormonal fluctuations can have a significant impact on how we feel emotionally, and the changes aren't always obvious until we begin looking for patterns.

That's one of the reasons I often encourage women to track their symptoms alongside their cycle.

Together we can connect the dots, noticing when anxiety, sleep, energy or mood tend to shift and what your body might be trying to tell us.

From there, acupuncture and, where appropriate, Chinese herbal medicine can help support your body back towards balance.

Each acupuncture point has its own story to tell.

Every point has its own unique functions and characteristics.

But it's how the points work together that I find truly fascinating.

Choosing acupuncture points isn't simply about treating a symptom.

It's about understanding your individual diagnosis and selecting the combination of points that best supports what your body needs on that particular day.

That's one of the reasons no two treatments are ever exactly the same. 🌿

Sometimes healing begins the moment you walk into a space that allows you to slow down.

One of my favourite parts of the day is noticing the subtle changes that happen throughout each appointment.

The deep breath people take when they first arrive.

The gentle exhale as they settle onto the treatment bed.

The softness in their face and shoulders by the end of their treatment.

Creating a calm, welcoming space has always been just as important to me as the treatment itself.

From the soft, calming colours and gentle music to the peaceful atmosphere, every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to help you feel comfortable, supported and cared for.

Sometimes, that's exactly where healing begins. 🌿

苦あれば楽あり Ku areba raku ari

After hardship comes ease.

This Japanese quote is a gentle reminder that difficult seasons don't last forever.

Whether you're navigating a health challenge, trying to conceive, recovering after birth, managing chronic pain, or simply feeling like life is asking a little more of you right now, it's easy to wonder if things will always feel this way.

Healing is rarely a straight line.

It often asks for patience, consistency and trust, especially when progress feels slow.

This saying reminds us that brighter seasons do come. Sometimes quietly, sometimes gradually, but they do come.

If today feels difficult, I hope this offers a little encouragement to keep going. 🌿

I love ending treatments with a warm cup of tea🤍

It gives you a chance to pause for just a few more moments, let your body absorb the treatment, and transition gently before heading back into the busyness of your day.

It's a simple ritual, but one that I hope leaves you feeling a little more nourished, grounded and cared for before you leave.

I only stock Love Tea in the clinic because I genuinely love their organic blends. Choosing the tea for the day has become one of my favourite little morning rituals, and if you discover a blend you enjoy after your treatment, you'll find it on the shelf to take home too ☕
