We often put everyone else’s needs before our own. This October, let’s make a little time for our own health too. 💗
Being breast aware starts with getting to know what’s normal for you. You don’t need a special technique. Everyday moments, such as showering or getting dressed, are opportunities to notice how your breasts normally look and feel.
𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:
🌸 A new lump or lumpiness.
🌸 A change in breast size or shape.
🌸 Skin changes, such as dimpling or redness.
🌸 Ni**le changes or discharge without squeezing.
🌸 Unusual pain that doesn’t go away.
Most breast changes aren’t caused by cancer, but it’s important to have any new or unusual change checked by your GP promptly, even if you have regular mammograms.
𝗜𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝘂𝗲?
Women aged 50–74 without breast symptoms are encouraged to have a free screening mammogram every two years. Call BreastScreen Queensland on 13 20 50 to book. If you’ve noticed a change, see your GP first.
💗 Share this reminder with someone you care about. A conversation about breast health can help us look after ourselves and each other.
