I think intelligent people can be particularly good at talking themselves out of things.
We know how to research. We know how to analyse. We can build a very convincing argument for waiting another week, getting another opinion or needing a little more clarity before we make the call and sometimes, underneath all of that very sensible thinking, we’re scared.
I’ve done it too.
There have been decisions in my own business where I could have told you I was being strategic, considered and responsible. Looking back, I’d dressed fear up so beautifully it probably deserved its own spreadsheet.
This is the conversation I have in Episode 49 of The Danni Vee Show.
The question “What if I get it wrong?” gives your brain an assignment, and as I share in this episode, it is VERY good at finding the evidence. Failed ideas, old conversations, things people have said and apparently something embarrassing from Year 9 that we’ve decided is relevant again. 😂
I’m far more interested in the question underneath all of that thinking.
What are you really trying to know?
That you won’t fail? That nobody will judge you? That someone else agrees with you? That you’ve made the “right” decision?
There comes a point where another opinion won’t give you what you’re looking for.
You have to make the call.
Episode 49 is now live on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube.
