Fibrokeratoma Excision

These preoperative and 4-week postoperative clinical photos show the early outcome following fibrokeratoma excision.

A fibrokeratoma is a benign soft tissue lesion that can develop around the toe or nail unit and may cause irritation, discomfort, or difficulty with footwear depending on its size and location. Surgical excision is often considered when the lesion is persistent, symptomatic, or recurrent.

At 4 weeks postoperatively, the area is healing well with a good early clinical result. Recovery and final appearance can continue to improve over time.

Bunion Surgery – Rotational Scarf + Akin Osteotomy

These preoperative and 3-month postoperative clinical photos show the early outcome following bunion correction surgery using a Rotational Scarf osteotomy combined with an Akin osteotomy.

This combination is commonly used to improve alignment of the big toe and first metatarsal, helping to correct the bunion deformity while aiming to reduce pain and improve function. At 3 months, there is already a good early improvement in foot shape and toe position, although healing and recovery can continue for many months after surgery.

Every patient, deformity, and recovery journey is different, so treatment is always tailored to the individual.

Revisional Bunion Surgery
Pre-op and 3 months post-op clinical photos

Revision bunion surgery can be considered when a previous bunion procedure has not achieved the desired outcome, symptoms have recurred, or alignment remains unsatisfactory.

These clinical photos show the pre-operative appearance and the 3-month post-operative result following revisional bunion surgery. At this stage, there is a pleasing correction of alignment, and good range of motion is noted.

We see many patients seeking further assessment after ongoing pain, deformity, or dissatisfaction following prior foot surgery. Careful evaluation, appropriate planning, and realistic discussion around recovery are important parts of the revision process.

Brachymetatarsia Surgery using Allograft Bone
Pre-op and 6 months post-op clinical photos

Brachymetatarsia is a condition where one of the metatarsal bones is shorter than normal, which can affect both foot function and appearance. In this case, surgical correction was performed using allograft bone to lengthen the metatarsal and improve alignment.

These photos show the pre-operative appearance and the 6-month post-operative result.

As a Surgical Podiatrist, I understand that concerns about foot shape, toe position, discomfort, and shoe fit can have a significant impact on day-to-day life. Procedures such as this may be considered in carefully selected patients after a thorough clinical assessment and discussion of treatment options.

Syndactyly (Webbed Toes) Surgery Using a Skin Graft

These clinical photographs show the appearance before surgery and at three months after surgery following separation of syndactyly involving the second and third toes.

The right foot had previously undergone surgery elsewhere, but the toes subsequently joined together again. Revision surgery was therefore performed using a skin graft to help maintain separation between the toes and support healing of the new web space.

Syndactyly surgery is individually planned according to the extent of the webbing, skin availability, previous surgery, circulation and the patient’s goals. Recovery and scar maturation continue beyond the three-month stage.

✨ MICA Bunion Surgery – 3 Months Post-Operative ✨

A great example of the correction that can be achieved with Minimally Invasive Chevron Akin (MICA) bunion surgery.

📸 Left: Before surgery
📸 Right: 3 months after surgery

At just 3 months post-operatively, the bunion prominence has been corrected, alignment of the big toe has improved, and the surgical scars remain small and discreet.

MICA bunion surgery is performed through tiny incisions using specialised instruments and fixation, allowing correction of the deformity while minimising soft tissue disruption.

✅ Small incisions
✅ Improved toe alignment
✅ Reduced bunion prominence
✅ Early mobilisation after surgery

Every patient and every bunion is different. The most appropriate treatment depends on the severity of the deformity, symptoms, activity level, and individual goals.

👣 Bunion Correction Surgery – Rotational Scarf & Akin Osteotomy

These photos show a patient's progress before surgery and at 4 months following bunion correction surgery using a Rotational Scarf Osteotomy and Akin Osteotomy.

The aim of surgery is to improve alignment of the big toe, reduce pain, improve footwear comfort, and restore foot function. Recovery is progressive, and swelling can continue to improve for many months after surgery.

Bunion Correction with Rotational Scarf + Akin Osteotomy 👣

These photos show the appearance of a foot before surgery and at 3 months following a Rotational Scarf + Akin Osteotomy for bunion correction.

The procedure is designed to address the underlying deformity by realigning the first metatarsal and big toe, helping to improve foot function, footwear comfort, and overall alignment.

Every patient's recovery journey is different, but it is always rewarding to see the gradual improvement that can occur during the postoperative period.

🦶 Excision of Recalcitrant Plantar Warts 🦶

These images demonstrate the appearance of longstanding plantar warts before and after surgical excision.

Plantar warts (verrucae) can sometimes become resistant to conservative treatments such as topical medications, cryotherapy, and repeated debridement. In selected cases where symptoms persist or lesions continue to spread, surgical excision may be considered as a treatment option.

The postoperative photographs demonstrate early healing following removal of the lesions.
