Drinking too much cow's milk contributed to the deaths of three Queensland toddlers in the past two years due to iron deficiency anaemia.
Experts warn that consuming more than two cups or 500mL of cow's milk per day can cause iron deficiency anaemia in children aged five and under.
Iron deficiency is the most common nutrient deficiency in kids in Australia and something we support families with every week. The causes are wide and varied as are the associated symptoms, and in severe cases (like this) it can be fatal.
