It was great to welcome our Aboriginal Health Worker trainees back to BRAMS for their clinical placements.

After learning blood collection during their latest training block, the trainees had the chance to put their new skills into practice. With support and guidance from our AHPs and nurses, they quickly built their confidence and skills.

We are proud of their progress and look forward to supporting them as they continue their training.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Beagle Bay Colour Fun Run and Special Bloke's Day celebration last Friday.
Presented in partnership with Sacred Heart School Beagle Bay and proudly supported by No Joobuk, the day brought together dads, grandads, uncles, brothers, and all the special men in our children's lives, alongside families and community members for a fun-filled day of connection, colour, and celebration with important health messaging about the dangers of to***co and v**e use.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success!

As part of our ongoing learning and upskilling program, our Aboriginal Health Practitioner, students and nursing team participated in an education session with Dr Kelly last Thursday.

The session focused on the recognition and management of anaphylaxis, equipping staff with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in an emergency.
Participants learned how to identify the signs and symptoms of severe allergic reactions, the appropriate steps to take when caring for a patient experiencing anaphylaxis, and the correct use of EpiPens and adrenaline. The session provided valuable hands-on learning and reinforced best practices for ensuring patient safety and delivering timely care.

Do you care for a family member, friend or community member? BRAMS is holding a yarning session for carers to find out what support you need and what would make a difference for you.

We want to shape a BRAMS carers program around what carers tell us, not what we think you need. Come and have a yarn, share your story and help us get it right.

Wednesday 9 September 2026
1.00pm at BRAMS

Afternoon tea provided. Everyone welcome, no need to book, just come along.

Dr Ryan, BRAMS Senior Medical Officer, has been contributing to the development of the Kimberley Regional Alcohol and Other Drug Plan through the Kimberley Aboriginal Health Planning Forum’s Drug, Alcohol and Mental Health Subcommittee.

As part of the consultation, Ryan has travelled across the Kimberley, listening to communities, services and key stakeholders about the challenges and opportunities in the AOD space.

AOD has long been an area of interest for Ryan, having seen firsthand its impact across the region. While the challenges are complex, he is optimistic that the insights shared across the Kimberley can help shape a meaningful, holistic and impactful regional approach.
