Good evening, clinic community
Sending out a few important clinic updates as of 9 September 2026:

• For tomorrow, Thursday 10 September – The clinic will remain closed until approximately 8:50am, with phone lines remaining offline until 9:00am, while we attend to essential clinic matters.

• Monday 14 September – At approximately 12:30pm, the clinic will experience a scheduled power outage, including phone lines going offline, for up to 20 minutes while routine electrical testing is completed.

• Tuesday 29 September – Our clinic car park upgrade is scheduled to commence. The compound car park will be closed for up to two weeks while works are undertaken. Alternate entry points will be clearly marked, and patients with appointments during this period will receive further information prior to works commencing.

• Additional GP coverage – We welcome the additional services provided by Dr Julia and Dr Allan to assist with up to five weeks of combined additional coverage between 21 September and 23 October. This additional capacity will assist us with employment medicals, Yellow Fever services, and all of our other routine general practice services.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while these works and essential clinic activities are undertaken.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support

We have recently said our goodbyes to Dr Heidi Coakley and Dr Amy Leathersich from their rotational tenure and thank them for their care and contribution to our clinic and community. We wish them both all the very best for what lay ahead and may cross paths again one day.

Concurrently, we’re pleased to welcome GP Registrars Dr Jamee Thomas and Dr Kamran Ahmed, both transitioning from Broome hospital for their tenure with us at the clinic.

Dr Jamee Thomas has interest in women’s health. Jamee grew up on a farm in Narembeen in the Wheatbelt, studied at UWA in Perth, and has called Broome home for the past 2.5 years while working at the hospital. Jamee had spent time at the clinic as a student back in 2018.

Dr Kamran Ahmed has called the Kimberley home for the past 5 years, completing his medical training with the Rural Clinical School and his junior doctor years in Broome Hospital. His areas of interest include men’s health, mental health and lifestyle medicine.

We thank Heidi and Amy again for their services, and in welcome Jamee and Kam to Broome Medical Clinic.

Clinic Update — 12 July 2026

CAR PARK REPLACEMENT APPROVED:

Approval has been received for a complete replacement of the clinic car park. Rather than another short-term repair, this is to provide a more durable long-term solution.

Work is expected to begin as soon as the final plans and scheduling are confirmed. Details about temporary access to Broome Medical Clinic, Pathology and Eunoia Lane whilst works are underway will be provided shortly.

SELF-SERVICE CHECK-IN KIOSK NOW AVAILABLE:

When the administration team is assisting other patients or answering phone calls, patients can use the self-service kiosk to check in for eligible appointments.

The kiosk is located directly ahead as you enter the clinic, on the edge of the half-height wall. Some appointment types cannot be checked in through the kiosk, so please refer to the information displayed beside it.

RESULTS HOTLINE PHASED OUT:

The dedicated results hotline is being phased out. The high number of patients calling at the same time has resulted in lengthy hold times and unnecessary frustration.

For now, patients can call the clinic at any time and request a results callback. Once your results have been received and reviewed by the appropriate doctor, a member of the nursing team will contact you. This could be anywhere between 1 to 4 days (depending on GP rostering and results being received).

An online request option will also be introduced in the coming weeks to reduce call volume and allowing patients to request a results callback with just a few taps on their phone.

ADVANCED VASCULAR VISIT:
More information will be made available within the next 2 weeks regarding Dr Maged Aziz’s Advanced Vascular / varicose vein services being facilitated at Broome Medical Clinic commencing on Wed 18th Nov.

Notice of Changes to Repeat Script Request Fees

Effective from 1 June 2026

Broome Medical Clinic wishes to advise patients of upcoming changes to the way repeat script requests are managed.

From 1 June 2026, we will be introducing e-script requests via the use of HotDoc (known as ‘Routine Requests’) to make the process easier and more convenient for patients.

New repeat script request options:

HotDoc e-script request:
Patients will be able to request eligible repeat scripts through HotDoc.
Fee: $30 per request – prepayment withheld and released on script approval by your GP

Phone, walk-in, or reception script request:
Patients may still request repeat scripts by phoning the clinic or attending reception in person.
Fee: $35 per request (increased from the current $25 fee).

Why we are making this change

This change will help us:

- Provide a more streamlined script request process
- Reduce delays for patients
- Reduce the phone ‘on hold’ wait times
- Support safer and more consistent handling of repeat medication requests
- Free up reception and clinical staff to better assist patients requiring appointments and urgent support in other matters.

Please note that not all medications may be suitable for repeat script requests without a consultation. In some cases, your doctor may require an appointment before issuing a prescription.

We thank the Broome community for your understanding as we continue improving our patient services.

It's with great sadness to announce that after 8 years as Practice Manager at BMC, I have resigned from my position. I want to thank ALL the beautiful people who I've had the pleasure of meeting over these years. I'm also very grateful to have worked with so many amazing team members during this time. I'll still be at the clinic for another week or so and apologies if I don't get to say goodbye to everyone. Cheers to all - Katrina 💙
