World Spinal Cord Injury Day – 5 September

Today we recognise people around the world living with spinal cord injury and raise awareness of the importance of accessibility, inclusion, independence and choice.

A reminder that removing barriers helps everyone participate more fully in their community.

SCI Day 2026 marks the tenth anniversary of Spinal Cord Injury Day — a decade of collective global effort to raise awareness, strengthen prevention, and advance meaningful action for people living with spinal cord injury.

ListenABLE: Emma Mickle

At just 27, paramedic Emma Mickle’s life changed in a split second when a falling tree branch struck her while hiking in New Zealand, leaving her with incomplete paraplegia.

In this powerful episode of ListenABLE, Emma shares the realities of chronic pain and invisible disability, losing the career she loved, and what she calls “forced resilience.”

She also talks about finding freedom through cycling, completing an Ironman after her injury, and her ambition to compete at the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.

An incredible story about adapting to a life you never expected. 💚

Wheel of Lunch Wednesday!

Every Wednesday, we spin the wheel and one team member chooses where we're all getting lunch from. (Sadly, they don't get to choose who's paying... that's still on each of us! )
It might sound simple, but sharing lunch has become an important part of our culture. It's a chance to connect, laugh, and take a proper break together.
Sometimes it's the little traditions that build the strongest teams.

NDIS changes – a new way of planning is coming

Under the new approach, the NDIA will use a support needs assessment to help determine a participant's overall support needs and develop their plan budget.

The changes won't happen for everyone at once, and existing plans will continue until participants move to the new planning approach.

There is a lot changing within the NDIS at the moment, and we know it can sometimes be difficult to keep up. We'll continue to share important updates as more information becomes available.

We're making important changes to the NDIS to make it fairer, easier to navigate, and more flexible to support participants to work towards their goals.

To recognise Deafblind Awareness Month, our team took part in the 🤫 No Talking Phrase Challenge.

Using only gestures, facial expressions and body language, we worked together to communicate without speaking. It was a fun activity that sparked plenty of laughter while encouraging us to think about accessibility, inclusion and the many different ways people communicate.

Thank you to everyone who joined in! 💙
